James Marsters on Dragonball Z

March 27th, 2008 Leave a comment Go to comments

This is completely unrelated to the live action movie, but I thought it was interesting that James Marsters knew of Dragonball Z before he was cast as Lord Piccolo.

We have a very normal relationship based on Dragonball Z…
- James talking about his relationship with his son

The video is from a 2003 Buffy convention.

    Wow, thx for the update.

Atleast we have some proof that this guy really did know of Dragonball before he started with the movie.
And his voice is so cool and somewat deep, he’ll be able to take advantage of that during those intense moments in the movie.. hopefully XD

Something he said made me laugh awhile back. He was talking about the character of Piccolo in the manga then said something like “as we all know he got into a bad argument and was imprisoned”. That sounded like the movie version, yet he said it as if both manga and movie versions were one and the same.

    J,
How hard is to read my “About” page before you flame an actor?

“TV Guide: Nice to know you’re so enthusiastic. Who do you play?

Marsters: Lord Piccolo. He’s thousands of years old and a very long time ago he used to be a force of good but got into a bad argument and was put into prison for 2,000 years. It got him very angry, and he finds a way to escape and then tries to destroy the world. The cool thing is, anybody who has seen Dragonball knows that Lord Piccolo transforms into a character named Piccolo, and that is a whole other ball of wax. That is one of the most popular characters in the whole series. I’ve been told I’m working for people who will just flay me alive if I give too much information, but what I can tell you is the character is green, bald and has pointed ears. Heroic wouldn’t be the wrong term by the end, but it’s a long journey.”

All he said was that anyone who knows Dragonball knows that Lord Piccolo turns into Piccolo J.R.

Nice, I bet his son is glad to see his dad’s apart of one of his favorite cartoons, even if he is the villain lol.

  7. March 27th, 2008 at 13:27 | #7

Nice find, as mentioned above, it’s nice to see that he knows of dragonball before actually playing the part of one of the characters.

  8. March 27th, 2008 at 15:07 | #8

nice… with his enthusiasm i’m confident that he will play his role well

  9. March 27th, 2008 at 15:18 | #9

robert i cant read half of your posts when they are all in caps, for the reason “J” said. Its PAINFUL to the eyes, and it then turns into a headache.

We would like to know whats your opinion, but everytime you use caps we cant finish reading it, because it turns painful.

I have to admit at first I was totally against this movie, but after many weeks of following it and realizing many people who are actually fans of Dragonball and DBZ are working on this movie (Stephen Chow, Brian Tyler, James Masters), it has given me hopes that this movie might actually turn out good after all.

Robert, although full, uppercase-style comments are more likely to allure more people to read them, rational people are less likely to take notice of the vacuous yak. Basically, productive comments do not need any of this constant uppercase nonsense. Actually, you could probably have a better chance of being taken more earnestly, if you protruded all of your thoughts, in a more readily, concise manner. This goes for every one else, out there.

Plus the fact that they moved back the release date. At first I thought they were rushing it (August 2008), but now that they have pushed back the release date (Whether it is to December 2008 or April 2009), and that means they have plenty of time to make it good (especial effects, etc).
