James Marsters on Piccolo (Again)
Dragonball Movie Blog reader Spikesgurl posted part of the Q&A with James Marsters at Grand Slam. He talks about Piccolo, and some trouble with the producers. Needless to say, he’s still pumped for the role.
Ariel Shaw (300, Final Destination) is the visual effects supervisor.

James Marsters is soooo going to rock this movie. >.>;; I say him because I still don’t trust Justin as a character like Goku. And Mr. James didn’t really need to study much for the role “Piccolo” because he watched it with his son along with Yu-Gi-Oh! but I honestly couldn’t see him in a live action Yu-Gi-Oh! so now I shall drop that! LOL
All I know is, I want his autograph. ><
@Isabella/Karai: Me too.
I got a new avatar.
Whoaaaa You hear that you guys!! Adam said he received a interesting e-mail. I wonder what it is??
ka…me….ha…me…haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachoooo!!
^^
That’s a cool avatar you got Adam!! That was the episode when Gohan was hiding the Dragonball from Vegeta and Vegeta was in the air flying with rage.
has anyone else heard this rumor that the trailer may come out with iron man opens?
nice avatar by the way adam.
@dk318: Thanks
I’ve gone three days without dragonball news.
Noo.. i’m slipping into withdrawal!
@Isabella/Karai: Like I said. To the other actors-Chatwin and co.- this is just another movie
. I think this movie means something to Marsters because he watches the show with his kid and seems to like it.
Oh my God. It doesn’t mean anything to the other actors? How the heck would ANYONE know? They haven’t been interviewed . . . AT ALL. They’re under a gag order by Fox, and they’re not currently in the limelight like Marsters is . . . so how would anyone in the world know what they feel about the movie?
The last we heard of Chatwin, at least, was from a fan who met him in a Wal-Mart in Mexico, and said that Chatwin seemed very serious about his role and how he wanted the character (Goku) to be portrayed. Annnnddd . . . that’s it. >_<
So please . . . just waiiiiiitttt for the promos and press tour to begin in in the summer, at the very least. D:
And sorry if I came off a little harsh or something in my last post . . . I’ve been a little stressed out this week, sooo . . . yeah. Said stress may have translated into my post a bit. Ehehe. XDD
I agree with u Moi. Too many judgmental people around here.
@Moi: I don’t know what some of these people are talking about anyway
Jesus Christ, Emmy and Eriko have blogs saying how fun it was shooting the movie and how exciting it was to play their characters. I’m guessing by their replies they haven’t read them
Well you guys wont have wory about James, unlike the others in he cast. He does alot of conventions.
This is what he has lined up so far
next week he will be in Porchester Hall London on Saturday, April 26.
Collectormania 13 Milton Keynes 2nd – 5th May 2008
Fangoria Weekend Secaucus ,NJ June 20-22, 2008.
DragonCon (Atlanta): 29 Aug 2008
wow im going crazy over here waiting for a poster i do hope that they release a teaser with Iron Man because I will deff be there for the midnight showing
@Moi: Because I know…EVERYTHING!
I wish we would see more of the other cast as passionate as JM. I have trouble picturing chatwin as goku being as serious as he is. Hes gotta grasp the drop on his head as a baby attitude.
@J: Right.
@J: What Adam said, haha.
You know nothing J!!!! In the words of Jackie Chan
“You have no Kung-fu!!”
Did anyone see “The Forbidden Kingdom”????
WOw!!!! That movie was F*ckin’ alwsome it reminded me of Dragonball. I was actually surprise to see it be so good. Jackie Chan was no doubt the best!! Jet Li was funny like a mug as the Monkey King. I was shocked to see Jet Li perform all those amazing moves. Jet Li hasn’t moved like that since the early 90’s. The Forbidden Kingdom proved alot! It showed the possibilities of a good Dragonball movie. Dragonball has no excuse now, because if the Forbidden kingdom can do it, Dragonball can do it better!! Dragonball is the one that started it all. Hey Adam did you see it yet dude??
Damnit damnit damnit.
I need to see that damn movie now.
@Jacksterson: lol …. Watching The Forbidden Kingdom got me hyped to see Dragonball. I think everyone in the audience had that same feeling too. Even the people who use to be a Dragonball fan. The only problem with The Forbidden kingdom was I felt they should of made it 30 minutes longer. It felt like they rushed the story in the begining!! They could of use that time to tell the story more. Well I said the same thing about Star wars episode 3. They should of made Star wars episode 3 thirty minutes longer, because I wanted to see Darth Vader fight.
@http://www.myspace.com/coreywilson10: No, I haven’t seen it yet.
@http://www.myspace.com/coreywilson10: Sweet, I’ll definently have get to that on bootleg in about a week or so
@http://www.myspace.com/coreywilson10: yeah, it kinda sucks that the only Darth Vader fights where he’s in the robot gear are the one where he’s just stiffly swinging the lightsaber at Obi-Wan and the other two fights with Luke. I wonder if they could have pulled something really epic off with today’s coreography… maybe not, though. I have Darth Vader costume and it’s very difficult to see anything with the mask on and it’s really hot in it as well. I guess using the sith robes was easier. I have that outfit too and it’s WAY easier to move and see in (of course because no mask is involved).
@Sean: To answer your question about the dragonball special…
It’s just a short special to celebrate Shonen Jump’s anniversary. Not that great at all. It’s like the One Piece / DBZ cross over.
It’ll most likely be just Japanese.
@Adam: WTF??? I nver asked about that Adam??? What are you talkin about man?
@Adam: Oh wait…my bad, you’re replying to my post on JP’s site
Srry man I didn’t know what you were talkin about for a sec…and thanks for the information
yo, new news on movie land with joker, check it out!!!
@tapatio: thanks
Even I remember what Adam said Sean?? Whoaaaaaaa I need to get a life.
Hurry up with the teasor Fox!!!! Hurry up with the news Craig. I’ve watched all 4 seasons of Dragonball z 7 times already. Im starting to call my boss at work King ki!! He thinks im nuts now. Hey J do you got any gi’s???? If you do…. Who is your teacher??
Sike I was just playing I didn’t know what Emperor Adam said!
All I can say is thank the gods for James!
As far as I can tell he’s the only one who really seems to know a damn thing about the show and I’m sure he’ll do a fantastic job.
DB is not something they can alter for hollywoods sake.
I don’t think Fox has any idea just how serious the fans are about this.
If something goes seriously AU they can expect rabid fans from all over the world.
I can just see the news reports now…
Love ya James<3
btw…these emotes seems rather familiar
@Folklore: Maybe that’s because they are the Wordpress default smilies.
I wonder who will play Vegeta on the second movie?
Hey JoseMP! Thanks for thinking of me! You too, Sean!
And Ches, you are amazing! Thanks a million for that transcript of James’ video clip. I was actually at that convention (Grand Slam Burbank) and I’m still waiting for my friend to transcribe the audio from the panels I taped. She hasn’t gotten it back to me yet, but I’ll be sure to share if James mentioned anything else about Dragonball in his other Q&A. This video clip came from Saturday, James also had a Q&A on Sunday.
One thing I do know (and I apologize if this has already been reported, but I haven’t been online much the past couple weeks and haven’t kept up) is that in addition to the teeth James got knocked out while filming, he also suffered some nerve damage in his arms and hands due to the stunts he performed. He said it was nothing a chiropractor couldn’t fix with time, but he was apologizing while signing autographs, because the numbness in his hand was causing his signature to be rather messy. (messier than usual, that is!
)
Also, the stuntmen on set were basically used only to instruct James in how to do the stunts. Apparently the body double/stuntman they had for James just wasn’t a close enough match due to the extensive makeup and costuming for Piccolo. So the stuntguys would run thru the scene or moves to set everything up and then they’d do the filming with James himself doing all the actual stunts.
I’m sure we’ll get some more Dragonball comments from James over the next couple weeks as he tours the UK. The convention that took place today was Torchwood focused, but I’m pretty sure Dragonball will come up at Collectormania.
@Cooper: Thanks for the info, cooper.
piccolo looks like a vampire need i say more?
wtf is this shit
this movie is going to be such a huge fail
it makes me sick its nothing at all like dragonball
i need to destroy this film before it is released and ruins a great thing
