@Walsh: Uhhhh, I think the Hulk was PG-13….Are you talkinh about the new one or the 2003 one. Because both of them are PG-13…….. :?

    June 16th, 2008 at 09:18 | #2

@KingLame: then you’re pretty dumb for judging the movie by the rating…

  3. June 16th, 2008 at 09:41 | #3

You called whatever you want. Here the reason why a “PG” will suck: One, there will be to much kids, and most kids between the age of 6-12/teen “NEVER SHUT-UP” and plus, a parent (some times have to bring a baby ( AND U KNOW THEY CRY A LOT). 2, most action movie that are “PG” always have a family message in it. Its ok to prove a point in a film, but there no need for DRAGONBALL. Good will beat evil, there’s your message. AND 3, most PG action movie are not so good (NOT ALL, BUT MOST DO). I just want to keep it to a PG-13 LEVEL, thats all! Thats why I’m pissed….

dammit, the video is down already

  8. June 16th, 2008 at 10:38 | #8

@grapes: Well, heres my reason why I feel like a “PG” won’t work:
Kids by the age of 6-12/teen:
Most kids at that age never shut-up. Or never be mature in a theater. I went to watch “Fantastic Four 2” and where 6 kids by the of 7 to 13 didn’t shut-up in the first 15 min in the film. AND THE MOM WAS THERE, AND SHE DIDN’T DO CRAP!!!! God, thats one of the reasons.
    Babys:
Babys are cute and all, but when the parents want to bring them into then film. ALL HELL BRAKE!! They start to cry in the middle in the film. Thats just dumb, babys need to sleep and get fed plus love, NOT A LOUD BOOMING NOSE TO MAKE THEM CRY!!!! Thats like throwing a cat in hot water!!
    Famliy message:
Most PG movie have a family message. Its cool to see a point in a film, but in dragonball i see this message: Good will beat evil.
    The fun is gone:
    ……what else I need to say…
I’m not 8 years old! Spider-man was for kids, and once they made a movie…IT WAS THE BOOOM! And was cool to see a “PG-13” FILM. Not because the blood and the action ( well, a good 97% was that), it was to see a new look at the story. To show a maturity level to see my hero is going through.
@grapes: Og here and loo for it… http://blogs.hoycinema.com/movieland/blog

    June 16th, 2008 at 13:07 | #15

    @KingLame: Told ya so.

Oh yeah, guys. You all no what PG means, right? It means that my prediction of Master Roshi NOT being a pervert is CORRECT! He’ll act all clean-cut like he was in the Ocean dub of DBZ and the edited FUNimation dub.

I knew Fox was too stupid to target this movie towards those that like the show (and actually know what it is in the first place) and this just proves it. Seriously, ask any 6-12 year old what DBZ is and they’ll be like ????? Then after this movie comes out, the new generation of so-called DB fans will think THIS is the TRUE story of DB.

  16. Vegeta
    June 16th, 2008 at 13:19 | #16

Wow. Well, there’s a good chance, that the film based on Dragonball Z will be a PG-13 rated film. As I recall, Dragonball Z attracted a much broader audience on television several years ago. (Males 15-24, if I’m not mistaken).

  17. Kame

I just want it to be good, if they can pull it off with a PG rating then I’ll be satisfied. But you have to think, if it’s targeted for kids 8-12, what’s left for us?
I don’t make assumptions but I can’t help but wonder, please be PG-13, is that so much to ask for Fox?

    @Beau:

Do you really want it to be like Starwars? With the “MESA BOMBAD” Jar Jar Binks and corny young Anakin “Are you an aaangel?” dialogue and all…

  31. matthew
    June 16th, 2008 at 15:36 | #31

he never said he wanted it to be like star wars u fool he was using an analogy that star wars was good and it was pg and I’m pretty sure beau didnt mean the phantom menace

  32. nanjirou
    June 16th, 2008 at 15:36 | #32

all star wars movies are pg, except ep 3 i think… and they are all great, so

besides, its not confirmed its going to be pg.. and with all the violence i think it will be pg-13
it says ANTICIPATED rating, which means, they don´t know yet

  33. nanjirou
    June 16th, 2008 at 15:38 | #33

@Jnas: actually i wouldn´t mind if it ended up looking like the best movies ever, but thats expecting too much

  34. J
    June 16th, 2008 at 16:04 | #34

Hey Adam. I listened to your podcast. I don’t know who it was but someone had that ‘clicky’ tounge problem. Just constructive criticism here:Whoever had the clicky tounge should chew on an apple. You don’t even have to eat it, just chew it and it gets rid of the problem. I learned that from professional voice actor Johnny Yong Bosche. 8)

  35. J
    June 16th, 2008 at 16:06 | #35

@nanjirou: It also means that PG is what they WANT it to be. I’m 99% sure that “specific target audience” Fox co-chairman Tim Rothman was talking about is 6-12 year-olds, not the fans who grew up with the show.

  36. nanjirou
    June 16th, 2008 at 16:49 | #36

@J: yeah that´s true, but it would be stupid since most db fans are over 12, so im still hoping this is a bad confusion
i still have high hopes for the movie
a pg rating won´t change that, only a crappy trailer could

  37. matthew
    June 16th, 2008 at 18:37 | #37

Film school university of Texas, yeah I know I’m the shit 8) but j is right its a target audience. I personaly didn’t know this I figured db would be violent action I mean its a graphic manga. Anyway I’m just so excited to even have a dbz franchise trilogy they can make it a G movie it would still get my money db is a cash cow period.

  38. Goku
    June 16th, 2008 at 22:40 | #38

i don’t like my new gi(gee), it looks like i have no stomach or I’m related to Steve Urkel and there way way way toooooooooo baggy,I’m Goku not Aladdin or M.C hammer man.:? don’t get me wrong it’s looks good in manga but not in real life. Mr.Wong we both know that there are more kids than anime fans in this world, but don’t make this movie pg. if you do that than it will not reach it’s full expectations and it will be rebooted like the hulk. let’s face it anime fans are older and they have money, if they like the movie then they will get the dvd version(not bootleg). but if it’s mainly for kid’s they can only see it once in theaters. the only reason why those kid movies do so well in the box office is because it’s expected to be a kids movie. from my understanding, people are expecting a more serious and realistic version of the movie, that does not sound like a kid’s movie. anime fans DO NOT want to feel like they are going to see a kid’s.You got Chatwin playing me, i understand why because of his fairly high voice and that creepy stair in his eyes. I’m expecting a lord of the rings-matrix-kung fu hustle movie all pg 13 .don’t get me wrong Mr.Wong i want kid’s to be able to enjoy this movie as well… but Fan go First as Christopher Nolan said for batman.

    June 16th, 2008 at 22:59 | #39

I think it will be PG-13,killing and fighting, I’m only 16 to be 17 in a month but as i am also been a fan of db/z/gt since 3rd grade/watched cut and uncut btw and i dont think it will be solely for kids and teens,I mean come on wong dont do kids movies and im sure they are gonna bleed ,this db not spy kids plus db was not as bloody as dbz at all, though it had sexual humor and only cussed once, so what i am saying is even if it was PG it can still stay true to dragonball

    June 16th, 2008 at 23:34 | #40

yo yu guys at leastr thios is a whole lot beta than nothin! W00t they all look fine to me! This is an adaption after all, i think its all about the quality (not just faithfulness) of the storyline… They look as close as they could get (kinda like in between reality and anime)

I really enjoyed what theey did with the camera in the Mai ChiChi fight, i really cant WAIT FOR A TRAILLEERR!!!

    June 16th, 2008 at 23:37 | #41

LMAO hey cornt u the guy who left the other dbmovie blog cuz they made fun of your face cuz it was hidden?? LMAO wow dude u got issues…..

Dragonball wont be pg…they are just making it for now untill the viewers actually check it out its a def that its gonna be a pg 13 so chillax pple 8)

  43. 6-12 years????????
    June 17th, 2008 at 08:21 | #43

ok now here is one major mistake that might destroy the hopes of the movie! it is orientated to 6 -12 year kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are they retarded? like i now am 22 and watched Dragon Ball while i was around 16, and then the anime was already kinda old!!! they can loose huge public and get very bad reviews if they make dragonball as cheeeezy as speed racer. I hope that dragonball will at least be something like transformers.. most of original dragonball watchers are already 30+ years old and like if they make movie to children imagine how everybody will react!!

    June 17th, 2008 at 12:55 | #44

the pics are cool..the whole thing about the rating…meh who cares…at least we’re getting a live action movie….i dont care if its PG im still seein it opening day….little ticked that master roshi doesnt have a beard and what not but oh well…..i wish bulma had some more blue streaks that she has…but over all i still think this movie is gunna be awesome :D

    June 17th, 2008 at 14:16 | #47

Hey people i bet you guys have seen forbidden kingdom and that is an action pack karate movie, and the movie didn’t show that much blood and what rating did it get, oh yeah thats right pg-13. Now don’t be stupid this poster is just like a pilot is due to change, and honestly even if it was posted as a pg movie that doesn’t mean that it won’t be a good movie. If you truly are a fan of the show then you will go watch it anyways plus we haven’t seen anything yet and we won’t till next year so don’t start saying that its going to suck because we don’t know yet. So don’t be hating people.

  48. June 17th, 2008 at 15:42 | #48

the video is cool and the fighting looks really fast paced…

and for those concearned with the rating i’m sure it will end up being pg-13 when its all said and done but to re-itterate on what @Beau said all of the star wars movies (with the exception of part 3) were rated PG and other than the phantom menace were all badass. but i’m sure by the time an official trailer arises it will be pg-13…
