Exclusive: Jump SQ August Issue
My source in Japan has once again provided us with the goods, and in watermark free glory to boot. This time, we’ve received scans from the August issue of Jump Square magazine.
And here are the cast comments, translated to English.
Justin Chatwin (Goku)
I am very honored to be able to play Goku. When I am playing gentle and loving Goku, I feel as if I am given energy from him. In the movie, I have a lot of great action scenes. After the movie is finished post production, I’ll get to see my Kamehameha appear on the screen, and I get very excited when I imagine that.
Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi)
On my career as an actor, it is my first time to play a manga character. Dragonball is read all over the world, have many hard core fans. I hope they won’t be disappointed by my acting (laugh). But to be honest with you, I’m totally satisfied with my performance as Master Roshi.
Emmy Rossum (Bulma)
It is a very exciting thing for me to play Bulma, because I’m a big fan of her myself. She’s intelligent, motivated and has a short temper like a teenager. I really want to make all the fans of her happy.
Joon Park (Yamcha)
I like Dragonball very much because I read it when I was child, so when I got to audition I begged the director to “Please give me any small part, like a man carrying sandbags behind the screen.” (laugh) Furthermore, there is Chow Yun-Fat who is my hero from when I was child. This is a dream role for me.

This is absolutely disgusting. Such disrespect to Akira Toriyama’s work. Just wow. I’m amazed and shocked that this is not some elaborate joke.
This is Dragonball. Not some low-budget, CW Teen drama.
I can imagine all of the genuis that went into this film, running through the heads of half-retarded producers looking to grab a quick buck. “It’s like a martial arts Dawson’s Creek”.
Yeah, just what we need another repugnant, hideous, abysmally, god-awfully horrible “Smallville”.
Whoever came up with this awful AWFUL shitty direction for the film, took everything that should have been done, flipped off all Dragonball and Dragonball Z fans, did precisely the opposite of what actually would work on any conceivable level as a decently produced film, spit in their faces, and gave us a martial arts version of Dawson’s Creek or Smallville.
I think i just threw up in my mouth. Oh wow.. I think i just puked blood from looking at this.

I myself am a big DB fan, and I have several friends that are fans. We argue this movie so much its retarded. Some are very excited about and some like me are just way to unsure. I personally cant get DB from any of the pics I have seen thus far. It just doesnt pull at me like it does when I watch the anime, and I think thats a huge thing for fans. Realisitic? How can this movie ever be realistic? Saiyans come from planet Vegeta and are warriors fighting under freeza in a ultimate universal war. If you havent watched Bardock you need to. It also shows that Roshi found Goku after he was sent to earth in a pod and actually named him although his real name is Kakarot. He has always trained under Roshi since he landed on earth. I am guessing they are portraying Goku in his teens after his tail was cut off because he was causing so much destruction on those full moon nights. Not real sure how far they are taking this movie as far as timeline is concerned, but if this is the first meeting of Bulma its completely wrong. I bet we dont get to see the Radditz saga at all in this movie.. so therefore no Vegeta…

Sorry on the my mis info in the previous post. It wasnt roshi that found him is was Gohan Sr. He was killed after Goku went ape and crushed him. He met Roshi with Bulma while looking for dragon balls and helping Mr. Turtle get back to the sea. Which is also when he got awarded the Nimbus Cloud for his help. Bulma was given a dragon ball for her help and a little peak of her goods

Boy… I tell you. Hollywood and white America ceases to amaze me. We somehow managed to take another all Japanise creation and somehow turned it into an cacasian event. Must we steal everything from someone else to make ourselves seem special? Fraggin, Akira and now this. Is it so hard to like someone who isn’t white. Is it really so hard to beleive that an ethic back ground does sometimes make the movie more believeable. Do we really need another white hero? No wonder racisim still exist. It’s amazing how we remain so confidant in ourselves and how much we rule and never having actually step foot out side our boxes. We’d all be amazed if we got the chance to live in other countries to see how poor minded we really are. Maybe we really do need a black president after all.

In these pics Justin Chatwin looks like Piccolo and doesn’t seen to bear any resemblance to Goku they went way off especially with the hairstyle,whoever watched the animated series would know what a large amount of characters there where and how individual each character’s appearance was,very few resembled each other and this guy looks so much like Piccolo its so sad to see this franchise being raped of its iconic character. THIS LOOKS LIKE A FRIGGIN LOW BUDGET TOM CRUISE.

No puedo creer q se atrevan a utilizar una serie tan importante y reconocida a nivel mundial, para desarrollar una pelicula tan MIERDA. Le falta creatividad e ingeniosidad pars satisfacer y complacer las exigencias de un publico tan fanatico a esta serie. Yo creo q estas personas nunca se leyeron la saga q la escucharon de alguien q le dijo a otro q le dijo a otro de como era DBZ. No voy a hacer mencion de todos los errores por que la lista seria larga, pero solo quiero preguntar por donde esta CRILLIN, o es q por q es chiquito no importa JAJAJAJAJAJA. Les debe dar verguenza.
