Set Report From Fan
A member from DBMB who claims he “Wasinthemovie” recently revealed some information to them, which apparently comes straight from the set of Mexico City. Spoilers ahead.
This picture was during one of the few scenes I didn’t get into, I really wanted in these classroom scenes because they were all close ups but there was a lot of political crap going on with the extra casting people… anyway…
Goku with his classmates are looking at pictures of the moon which even a picture causes him to go into a trance and almost transforms him. Chatwin has to stare into the camera in this scene.
I was only on the set for the 6 days of Mexico City filming, I wasn’t chosen to go to Durango… more politics, so ya.
He also gave his opinion on the movie, which isn’t too good.
One of the first scenes we shot was Goku’s bike getting trashed by Texas Battles character “Carey Fuller’s†car. Chatwin says in an adolescent voice “Dude my Bike!â€, to which Texas looks over at his friend and responds, “Did you just fart?â€
So if that sounds like quality writing, then I guess it’ll be ok. Most of the dialog for the first 6 days follow this kind of teenage drivel…
I was lucky enough to be in the movie so I can only pray they didn’t cut me out of anything, I’m a huge fan so I am very grateful I was able to be in the film but from a critical fan’s point of view I’m going to hate at LEAST the opening scenes dialog, because I, and others, were cringing on set….
Wasinthemovie talked a bit about his experiences on the set of Dragonball in a DBMB podcast located here. Some of the “highlights” include:
- Stunt doubles were used for most of Justin Chatwin’s fighting scenes.
- Emmy Rossum, apparently, wasn’t nice on set.
- Extras partied… a lot. Jackson Spidell (Justin Chatwin’s stunt double) talked a lot to the extras.
- Justin Chatwin was a “pretty nice guy.”

I don’t care if he’s lying or not! I’ll just wait for the actual trailer, and if I see that it’s more comedy than action, than I won’t bother going to the theatre.
@DPA: Ah, I gotcha. I just wasn’t sure if the throwing in of the bees meant anything or if they were just there to show the red light blinking.
@GutterBall: “Look, Vegeta! People Popcorn!”…OMG, when I heard that I was rolling, that thing made my day! lol. But on a serious note, in response to what you said. You and I are basically in the same boat. I can deal with the corny phrases but the Goku in highschool and no Krillin is my reason why I will have problems with the movie. I mean, I can live without Tien and the other few…but really…a DB movie w/o Krillin. WTH.
Goku CAN turn into Oozaru by looking at a picture of a moon. Remember the episode when they used Krilin’s head as a moon because the real moon was destroyed?
In any case, lets just pray it will work out like how Transformers did. Modern setting, realistic, and would bring in more fans like what Transformers did.

Yes Goku will transform into an oozaru in the movie. His tail will most likely not be visible but he will transform

WTF from Hungary…In my childhood Dragonball was a wonderful experience and I always hoped for the movie….was there no possibility to maybe get Toriyama at least to help in making maybe even a new story of Dragonball…so at least it becomes something good….Everybody in Hungary is verrrrrry dissapointed…

First of all I am a really big fan of Dragon ball – Dragon ball Gt series.. and by seeing that the movie is going to be made by some english actors and chinese movies stars just pisses me off. The Dragon ball movie should be made by Japanese and with people who look like the Charactors . I am not going to see this movie and a lot of people in American who are fans Are going to be really pist off at the fuckn low budget b movie. This is what happens when the makers or the wanna be maker of the movie gets low money to spend and uses chinese and English actors who can’t act besides Chou young fat he is great. BULLSHIT!!! to make such a great TV series and turn it into shit.
I can wait to see GOKu turn to that giant Gorilla and kick that monkey ass up !!!

eh hold up?? i thought master roshi is supposed to be bald and perverted, and funny, in this movie he looks serious, goku american?? you must be joking cmon those guys are supposed to be asian, well at least give asian american actor???, geez this movie gonna suck real bad! and it’s disgracing the comic creator, but i’ll watch anyway i just wanna see how suck it is..

They should at least put Krillin in High school with Goku or put Krillin when ever Goku started Training with Master Roshi,BUT no they decided to go with TERRIBLE IDEAS.I hate Fox.
