Set Report From Fan
A member from DBMB who claims he “Wasinthemovie” recently revealed some information to them, which apparently comes straight from the set of Mexico City. Spoilers ahead.
This picture was during one of the few scenes I didn’t get into, I really wanted in these classroom scenes because they were all close ups but there was a lot of political crap going on with the extra casting people… anyway…
Goku with his classmates are looking at pictures of the moon which even a picture causes him to go into a trance and almost transforms him. Chatwin has to stare into the camera in this scene.
I was only on the set for the 6 days of Mexico City filming, I wasn’t chosen to go to Durango… more politics, so ya.
He also gave his opinion on the movie, which isn’t too good.
One of the first scenes we shot was Goku’s bike getting trashed by Texas Battles character “Carey Fuller’s†car. Chatwin says in an adolescent voice “Dude my Bike!â€, to which Texas looks over at his friend and responds, “Did you just fart?â€
So if that sounds like quality writing, then I guess it’ll be ok. Most of the dialog for the first 6 days follow this kind of teenage drivel…
I was lucky enough to be in the movie so I can only pray they didn’t cut me out of anything, I’m a huge fan so I am very grateful I was able to be in the film but from a critical fan’s point of view I’m going to hate at LEAST the opening scenes dialog, because I, and others, were cringing on set….
Wasinthemovie talked a bit about his experiences on the set of Dragonball in a DBMB podcast located here. Some of the “highlights” include:
- Stunt doubles were used for most of Justin Chatwin’s fighting scenes.
- Emmy Rossum, apparently, wasn’t nice on set.
- Extras partied… a lot. Jackson Spidell (Justin Chatwin’s stunt double) talked a lot to the extras.
- Justin Chatwin was a “pretty nice guy.”

With the evidence provided, i do believe this guy. Maybe some of you feel he’s telling the truth but refuse to accept it.
The new pic, posted nowhere else is proof enough for me…now i’m not a gullible person but again i believe this guy is telling the truth.

— Ya, you mean her man Justin Siegel, well, as they say, a book and what not. I too think I have given enough evidence, some people just don’t want to hear anything that alters their view of a good movie. I personally don’t know if it will be bad, I just know what I heard was disappointing to say the least. But again, 15 or so minutes won’t break the movie, at least I hope not.
I do have more stories and other pictures, I also am still in contact with many who took other set pictures and even some who filmed in Durango, so I might be able to get more, If I so choose to. –

— I already responded to you ad nuaseum, go back and read. How would you know if she is nice or not, any first hand evidence of this forthcoming? Also, if I didn’t care about her, why would I say “Maybe I shouldn’t say this, She’s gonna look so bad..” It’s fairly obvious I didn’t want her to look bad but at the same time it IS WHAT HAPPENED, I don’t think she has a bad attitude, as I have repeated over and over, but at that time she seemed to have a bad attitude. She might have had a bad day, or perhaps she is a diva, either way, she certainly reacted the way I described it, however it is something I can never prove, so forget about it and move on. –

Whether or not you were in the movie it doesn’t really matter to me. You just gotta understand that some of your evidence isn’t really convincing and you forgot some aspects that a DB fan really wouldn’t forget thats all. We’re all just looking for something tangible that will make us excited about this movie cuz to tell you the truth, most of us are scared this movie is gonna bomb and look like some power rangers type thing. — Well, all I can say is go watch the movie, That will be the evidence you are looking for. As for your friends, if they choose not to spend their money, that’s their prerogative, I didn’t lie, although I never said I knew if this dialog was representative of the whole movie either. I simply gave details on my experience. –

I think that anybody that has read ANY of my previous stuff knows I’m a HUGE fan. I’m not disappointed. I mean sure, that’s definitely not the best dialogue, but it’s no reason to give up on the movie. Why are you trying to crucify this guy just for being honest? You would rather him come off the set and tell us some good lies or would you rather him tell us the bad truth? I prefer the truth. Whether its good or bad. Even so, that one line isn’t really that bad. I’m sure in the context of the movie it just might work. And for the people that are saying that he wasn’t on set just because he didn’t remember every single little detail, well that’s just dumb. Only kids with no lives would say something like that because they wouldn’t have anything else to think about over a span of months but Dragonball. I can understand everybody being upset at someone who’s bashing the movie based on nothing, but this guy was actually on set, one of the only people who actually HAS something to base it on, and he still didn’t bash it, he just gave his honest opinion on some dialogue, and we all pretty much reacted the same way he did. But you want to get pissed at him. And stop with the Emmy Rossum stuff. Nobody on here even knows her and she could probably give a shit about you jumping to defend her honor. She probably just had a bad day. Anyway, everybody should lighten up, and just be excited that we’ve gotten some news, forget about the corny high school stuff, and look forward to watching them search for the dragonballs and battling Lord Piccolo.

think about it this way,,, its would be really a lot harder to screw up such a great story than to make it well done… so even if they screw up with the highschool stuff,, with the rest of the story, which is the real good stuff, it would be very hard for them to screw it up… its just too good
No matter what, I’m still going to watch this movie. I don’t care if they just show the names of the actors, movie title and then credits, i’ll still watch it like 5 times.

It’s a set report. So what if it’s displeasing, he’s just telling what he saw and heard. He never said anything about the whole movie being ruined. Also, you must be out of your mind if you think the studio gives a damn about the fans of Dragonball. With all the changes made from the anime, this is obviously for mainstream audiences.
I was in the movie too…. I fought against Chatwin’s double in the tournament and got my ass kicked of course

— Hmm, news travels fast, even when it’s promised it won’t, lol. Sorry about the cynical tone, I was just suspicious of your sudden change of belief. I still can’t elaborate any more than I have about the fart joke. Fuller crashes into Goku’s bike, crushing it, almost hits Goku in the process, and rather than stating “hey man you almost hit / killed me” Because he is pretty much indestructible to such a collision, Goku instead responds “Dude, you wrecked my bike”, which fuller replies turning to his friend, “Did you just Fart?” That is the context of the movie. –

Not an immature question at all. I did not hear any dialog containing swears or sexually “suggestive” language. It all seemed pretty pg for me. Even the action seemed PG, as James wasn’t telling the cast during fight scenes things like “and then Goku rips your head off”, it was more you get hit into the fountain, he hits both of you whilst spinning and dodging your attacks, etc etc.
So ya, nothing in those first six days suggested anything above PG, but again, they filmed for nine more weeks in Durango, 1 out of 10 weeks is difficult to base a full opinion on.

Ok, well, I’d still suggest not taking this so harsh, it’s two sentences in the movie, and while I don’t expect they’ll get cut, they could be, and who knows, maybe they will be fine within the atmosphere the movie is portrayed in.

Judging by your long, elaborate comeback comments to others on this message board, it looks like you were in the movie. It’s just that a lot of the recent news was generally positive and got everyone so pumped for this movie and all of a sudden some unfavorable, unexpected news comes up. Then a lot of people were in denial, but I’m sure mostly everyone believes you by now. Also, if you had the balls to reveal this news with the possibility of being sued then maybe Emmy was checking you out lol. . . but seriously don’t lay a finger on her.

— Around 5000 pesos for 7 days of work, received it in cash and my girlfriend wasn’t in the movie as Adam pointed out. The skipping and jumping I did when they put me at the back of the parking lot on day 2, I figured no one would be able to see me so what the heck. Plus I don’t react well to “punishment” or authority. –

— 1. I didn’t have a good opportunity to check out her specific body parts, but I can say she looks amazing in person. Whether a smile or frown I doubt I’d ever get sick of looking at that woman. ^^
2. Well, that depends, I’m sure some scenes I was part of will look amazing after post production, but were they exciting on set, no, not really. We had a great time, but it was spent laughing mostly, so much so that we probably looked out of our minds. I would love to do another movie with the majority of the extras on that set, it was a blast. I’d even go as far to say had we stayed with the same extras throughout the entire 3 months or so, that we would have made the movie a much more fun experience. I think the main cast would have been great fun, but sadly both the extras and the cast were a little to shy and we really all didn’t chat until the last day of shooting. Was an amazing experience, and while I can’t recall every detail, it will be something I will always look fondly back on.

— Well, I don’t really know, it’s probable she was and is a great person. I only saw her for a few minutes, the first and last close encounter with her, so it really is just a story, I am sorry if it came across like I was judging her entire character, because I’m not. She definitely seemed to over react, why, I don’t know, and is she always like that I doubt it, but, thats how it happened. Please don’t hate me Emmy ^^ –
