i am a huge fan of dragonball and you guys should have faith in the movie i was like that once but after i heard jami and james talk about the movie they sounded very happy about the film and made it seem great so dont deny the movie yet cuz first of all none of you have seen the trailer yet and have faith in the company they arent gona make a gay movie with 100 million dollar budget wtf? a lot of the fans that love dragonball are douting hte movie and i think that they are making a bad mistake many people who replyed on movieweb.com/dragonball have said many crap about the movie what the hell is this i have faith yes there r stuff in the movie that i hate but it shouldnt be perfect

Man, I hope this movie won’t be a teen action movie. I still got hope though, but I know about the first 10 to 20mins of the film will suck. But like I said, I still got hope…kind of.

I’d like to save much of my response for the podcast, but for now I’ll simply say that there is no reason to believe he won’t do a good job. He was, out of the actors on set, the most focused just prior to shooting, which I’ll explain in full detail later. –

Goku saying dude isn’t a problem. Goku being anywhere near a school is a giant bright red flag though saying “we screwed up big time.” It’s just not accurate at all. Goku trained with and learned everything he knows from roshi and God (kami), not some bullshit public highschool. How could they do this? He’s tarzan or any number of mythical heros who live in the woods away from civilization. I’ll see the damn movie anyway for the lols but this will not be as good as it could have been I’m afraid. too bad.

@rotting_corpse: It s hard to translate my script but Yeah, I did one.

I can give you details:

- Krillin exists and he`s already a Master Roshi`s disciple when he meets Goku.

- Grandpa Gohan is dead. Killed by Goku Oozaru (A change i would make is he must be angry and looking the full moon to turn into Oozaru. Grandpa saved the situation and forbidden Goku to get angry. but He couldn`t avoid once and RIP).

- The main enemy at the first half of the movie is Red Ribbon. RR has two squads: one looking fot he db, and another loking for Piccolo`s “prison”.

-Red Ribbon`s Big attack happens at Tenkaichi Budokai (Ten Shi Han and Chaos (undercover RR members) were fighters at that tournament , when Goku and his friends defeat and destroy RR. The Big Menace appears. Tambourine kills Krillin, Goku is defeated but he chases Tambourine at midnight, see full moon and turns into Oozaru, killing Tambourine in a dark and horrible way. Then Goku gets tired and turns into normal.

- I imagine a sad / panic scene when Roshi, Krilin, Bulma, etc realize that Goku killed his grandpa. Yajirobe (Karin`s monk) appears and invites Goku to train with his master.

- Then Piccolo and Roshi`s team search the DB (one for gets eternal life and the other one for re-living Krillin).

- The rest of the story we already know (well, i would change the fact that a dog is World`s President. Piccolo can take the UN and destroy that place)

- And last scene would be Tenkaichi Budokai final: Goku vs Ma Jr (Piccolo). And the movie ends when that fight begins.

Detail of the last scene: Goku and Piccolo are face to face and talking about their destiny “being enemies forever”, “While i stay alive, i will protect this world” etc.. the classic tenkaichi boudokai drum sounds. And a swarm of bees appears and go.

And i would make a hidden scene: When credits ends, We see a building in ruins and camera goes down, and in the middle of complete darkness a red light turns on.

I can’t judge this movie on one bit of dialog and again…Dragonball had so many corny jokes that that kinda seems normal. But hey, thats just me.

Derek told me piccolos make-up was really cool, and they had to put some licht filters on it to make it look more realistic…

Goku´s powers are white, yellow and blue… he said thats the surprise… its allmost for the end of the movie…(oops)

And piccolo has a lots of different powers… He said: “he has the lava power… its really cool” ????

My buddy who’s in the Army is now stationed near Japan said he saw a 20 second teaser trailer!

Yeah my brother in the Army also said he saw a good teaser for DB. He said it looked pretty badass..

He also saw the Wolverine trailer already..

So I’m starting to wonder if the Army base theaters get trailers we don’t..

Holy monkey. These comments are…certainly diverse. I’m kinda glad I missed most of them.

At any rate, I neither believe nor disbelieve either side of the rumors. I take all movie news, especially about this franchise, with a grain of salt. The flick probably won’t be either as bad as I fear or as great as the cast claim. I’m okay with that. I’m pretty easy to please.

However…I see a backpack. It just seems so wrong to think of Goku, saiyan warrior extraordinaire, wearing a backpack. It means so many things — high school, “normal” life, getting picked on, not being raised out in the boonies to become the little savage boy that Bulma runs over with her motorcycle and drags into the real world to change both it, and him, forever. It means…well…not DragonBall.

Look, I’m a dubbie. The lame dialogue doesn’t bother me. I thought the “Look, Vegeta! People popcorn!” line was pretty darn funny. What bothers me is that “Goku” is wearing a…a backpack. *sigh* I mean, don’t we already have a movie where a high school kid gets bullied by the jocks and finds solace and strength and personality in learning martial arts? Wasn’t it called “Karate Kid”?

No, it’s not the lame dialogue, and it’s not that it’s an “adaptation” — ie., that it’s completely different from the canon storyline, either dubbie or subbie — that bothers me. It’s that “let’s make a movie that isn’t really anything like the source material” thing that Hollywood does so frequently, if not so well. It’s like almost every Stephen King movie except “Carrie”. The written word, even in graphic novel format, doesn’t translate well into a movie, unless you deliberately make the movie look like the source material (I’m thinking “300″ and “Sin City”, here).

I’m not saying that I don’t want a movie, by any stretch. I’m just saying that, if they’re going to do it, why not do it right? If the fans wanted something different, they’d watch a romantic comedy or some such. Egads.

Look, I’ll be the first to eat my words if the flick turns out rockin’. I’m even saving up the barbeque sauce to make them more palatable, just in case. But it’s really, really difficult to get excited about Goku in a backpack. In high school. In any kind of “normal” setting, really.

I know, Adam. I know. Wait for the movie. *grin* I’m trying, really.
