    Well boys end the fight, db movie will not mutilate the origin manga and anime series, is only an adaptation, if Justin has chosen to play the role of Goku, we the fans can only await a excellent playing of the Goku role, and the other characters, we must think that they have working to offering all audience a real excellent movie, but if someone is unsatisfied with the end work of the film can return to see the original manga and forget the movie as a interpretation of live characters movie of db series… But maybe they work will be spectacular and we finally enjoy it as childs…. Hey don’t forget put Krilin (first friend of Goku) and Pilaf (boss of Mai)… Good Luck and we can’t await so long to see the movie!!!!!!!!!!

    I think few stories cannot be adapted for cinema. I would say that story is one of those.

    you destroy the best animated movie and especially goku that I enjoyed during more than 20 years now. I am 30 years old now and goku is still my favorite hero as many of the men of my age in my country. I understood perfectly why this US adaptation looks like a very big shit when I had a look on the american anime adaptation. it is horrible. music and voices were changed, are horrible and violent. gohan’s US voice is like a fucking american teenage. Piccolo and vegeta have voices of bodybuilders boosted with hormons. you destroyed the japanese spirit of that story.
    now you choose one guy that is not adapted to play goku.

    yeark I will never watch that shit.

    Look you guys I really tried my best with this movie. In hindsight I should have returned to showtime’s weeds instead of pursuing this movie but hey I really dig Dragonball. I’m sorry if I ruin it for you guys. Maybe in the next movie they will hire a real asian lead because I know if I were in your position I would be pretty disappointed too.

    Drangonball is going to be EPIC…ly bad :wink:

    Baaasically we can Only Judge the Film Once we have seen What James Marsters looks like fully made up.
    Hopefully its not a disappointment.
    Although I dont have High expectations either, although it IS just Dragonball and not DBZ, there will always be room for Improvement.
    Patience seems to be the only tool we have at the moment….

    OK two things:

    Are the mods here filtering comments? because I see mostly positive feedback here and that just doesn’t add up. Because frankly everything this company has put out thus far looks ridiculous. You’re clearly only doing this because you intend to make money off the name alone, and it’s obvious from the promo material you’re not putting a lot of planning, or money into the project. It also leads me to ask the question if you’ve looked over the source material at all? Probably not.

    As for the fan boys who praise this “film”: seriously? You actually think this looks good? Really? come on don’t get sucked into the hype. This movie doesn’t have a lot to begin with. Yet you all compliment it to no end saying how accurate the characters look. Its a WHITE guy playing Goku. That’s like a live-action Simpsons movie starring Jet Li as homer. Seriously think for yourselves, but if that doesn’t work I’m sure you’ll all look cool wearing the DB movie shirts you get from hot topic.

    @Eric the douchebag: Nope we are not. Shocking that some people don’t share your mainstream opinion, isn’t it?

    this movie is gonna suck….
    not to be racist or anything…
    but an asian character should be played by an asian actor.
    period.

    Goku isn`t asian. So he could be played by american actor. I heard that Justin do what he can, and I think in some way he will be good Goku.

    Try to think people. Anime/ manga has so many people/ animals/ places draw in thair own way. The way that can`t be repeat in the movie. You know what I mean.. if hmm Vegata shows up in the film his anime uniform wouldn`t be this funny? Or Trunks/ Bulma with blue hair- it fit in anime but in real film it will be looking funny and plastic. You can`t repeat Dragon Ball anime/ manga in live film it would look plastic, unreal.. not good. How can you show master Roshi ( as far as I remember- I watch DB in french and polish and his name was different) likes girls (in film for kids), good Buu eating ice creames, Chi-Chi screaming at her boys. How can you show world after dead without explenation. And all this cities, flying cars that disapper into small thing when you push the button. Not mention other planets, other civilizations. True we have computers and visiual effects but then it will be another computer made film with actors playing in blue box. I like DB, and I`m waiting for film to see how they handle with it. I know it will not be the same as anime ( I was watching DB series when I was little girl) But I have faith, maybe it will be not so bad

    @Blake B:

    It’s been a while since th comment,
    “B.Akira Torimaru got his artistic style from 101 Dalmations, And AstroBoy.. Astro Boy is made by a Japanese man in America.. His family had lived here for three generations, therefor, Astro Boy is American… In other words the “Father of Anime” got his ideas from America”
    but I had to correct it.
    (Although I know no one will be reading this)

    1. It’s Akira Toriyama

    2. Astro Boy was made by Osamu Tezuka, a natural born Japanese, and probably never been to the States before.
    Check;
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osamu_Tezuka

    You are right that he was influeced by US characters, and you are correct that animation was started in America.
    But these have nothing to do with Dragon Ball.

    Unlike the other Toriyama’s mangas (comics), Dargon Ball is based purely on Japanese and Chinese cultures.
    You can simply tell by;
    Dragon, Ki (inner power), Kung-fu, and Goku who originates from the Chinese old story “Journey to the West”.
    Also, there are ways to draw if he wanted to portray a caucasion so I will have to totally disagree the comment;
    “And honestly,
    anime characters look waaay more like caucasians than anyone else…”

    However, I personally think that it was a right choice to choose Justin Chatwin as the main character, although I don’t like few of the adjustments.
    It would be insane to think that you can sell a Hollywood movie using an Asian in the main role. (other than Asian movies with kung-fu, ninja or samurai)

    I think it’s a real testimony that America needs to wake up and acknowledge the underlying racism. It’s a shame that in order for a Asian to get the main lead in a movie they have to be a kung fu fighter or be paired with chris tucker to fill the gap.

    This isn’t the first time… Hollywood is a joke… much like this movie will be. Can anyone say next “Ishtar”?

    Can’t you humans speak about relationships and life of Dragon Ball Z? Since Bardock’s relationship with his 2 sons and King Vegeta’s love for his only son seems improtend to me. (Maybe others too) But I want to hear about your thoughts about they’re relationships. As much as I want to know on Frieza Saga, during the vision that Vegeta gave Goku as an encouragement, was it really King Vegeta and Bardock who spoke too?

    I have been a dragon ball fan for years and I agree that it would be impossible to have the exact same hair style and colors as the anime. Take a look at the “Final Fantasy: Advent Children” and see Cloud’s hair. IT’S RIDICULOUS! (just like the rest of that movie) Imagine blue hair and such! It looks too cartoonish to be used in a movie.

    BUT, the main problem here is not the fact that the character is white. It seems to me that they didn’t even try to approximate the looks of the characters to what it is in the anime. For example Goku has DARK BROWN HAIR and DARK BROWN EYES. Only when he turns into super sayan he becomes blond (and it is BLOND, not brown). So by looking at the pictures it seem they didn’t even care about it. Perhaps Justin Chatwin would look a lot better if he had the hair and eyes very dark.

    That’s what pisses me off. It’s understandable that an American movie would have an American as the main actor. What’s not understandable is the complete disregard for the actual looks of the character, even if they guy is white, the hair and eyes must be dark!

    I remember the episode that Trunks arrived and and defeated Freeza. Vegeta himself says: “He cannot be sayan, because sayans have dark hair…” This is one of the most basic things about dragon ball! How exactly would it look “unreal” to make Justin’s hair very dark!?

    I hope they haven’t twisted the story so much.
