Fox Considering Scrapping Dragonball? (False)
File this under one huge rumor from Film Junk.
When it was first announced that a Dragonball movie was actually happening, a lot of people couldn’t comprehend how such an over-the-top, stylized animated series would possibly work in a live action setting. Then Stephen Chow came on board as a producer and suddenly it seemed like there might be hope. Of course, the movie was originally supposed to be ready for this summer, but Fox ended up pushing it back to April 2009. No official explanation was given, but some wondered if it might be the first sign of trouble. The fact that the movie also had no presence at the San Diego Comic Con only deepened suspicions.
This week we received word from an anonymous source that there may be some truth to this speculation after all. According to our tipster, the higher-ups at Fox are not too impressed the footage that has been shot thus far, and are seriously debating shutting the whole thing down. Now I have no idea if this is a real possibility or if the studio is just putting pressure on director James Wong to deliver, but the movie supposedly has a budget of over $100 million and I can understand them wanting to cut some losses while they still can. The thing is, if this is all true, it only makes me that much more interested to see the movie. If it it’s strange enough to scare the suits, it’s gotta be good, right?
Again, this is only a rumor, and I wouldn’t worry yet. But one can only wonder why Fox is being so secretive.
UPDATE: I contacted Film Junk to get to the bottom of this rumor.
I wouldn’t have posted it if the guy didn’t seem trustworthy. He has e-mailed me a number of times previously and I do believe him. He has nothing to gain by making up a story like this.

UPDATE 2: 20th Century Fox states the information reported was false and the film is still scheduled for an April 2009 release.

FOX Movies site is back online and…..DRAGONBALL is still there. So there you have it, the edit wasn’t about Dragonball. They were probably adding something for Babylon AD (which comes out next Friday).
So that means the rumor definetly is false.

I really hope this is a rumor, because I’ve waiting 6 years for Dragonball and 1 year for the trailer.
I don’t believe this for a second, because why would they throw away $100,000,000? I’m happy with the way the movie is going!! Everything looks good to me so far, I just wish they would release a trailer already and stop the BS.

Doesn’t anyone think that after Fox debunked Film Junk’s rumor, it’s sorta like waving a big F.U. in their faces? (Film Junk’s). Mostly for trusting some anonymous guy who had zero resources. it doesnt make sense to me. The fandom of Dragon Ball is something beyond cult, and I think it could be the worst movie ever and still be at the top of the charts.

You can clean the forum box but you cannot clean what we are all thinking about that movie. Keep that movies a way for now and try to remake it. I has been reading the scénario on internet and i don’t know if that scénario it’s true but even if you try to keep a life all legend story and think that goku meet Yamcha when he was at school.. Nothing like the series. It may be one of the best movies to come out, a box office smash of such, but if it doesn’t stick to its origins, then it’s just another street fighter, can anybody say; ‘none American Guile or Kylie Minogue Cammy’. First of all, does anybody on this blog know or have a friend, who is a white guy called Goku?
You’re only going to get camera tricks like crouching tiger, people pretending to walk on trees, fake fighting; and to you hardcore DB fans worldwide, you must be disappointed. By Goku alone, never mind the none green Piccolo and Master Roshi with a full head of hair, tall and serious, when has master Roshi ever been serious. As for Bulma, she should have blue hair and where is Krillin and Tien. Finally I have beef with the storyline, WHERE IS GOKU’S TAIL and what’s up with his hair? It may be a good movie, but it is not DB, give the movie another name it not DB. To be continued after the release date.

everyone watch dragonball z and now i mopve to deep part of texas so close to the boarder only a river seperate usa from mexico and where you think no one watch dragonballz i was amaze everyone watch it here too so this movie is going to be big no one seen this movie coming and i know alot of kids and adults are going to see it with tech. we have today i cant wait to watch and too see vegeta,frezza,cell,androids,buu and to see they go as far as dragonball gt dammmmmmmmm i cant wait and i know the world cant wait to see this come too life in the movies and if dosent we will turn fox in candy and eat them up
