Fox Loves Dragonball
Remember Film Junk’s post on Fox not being pleased with Dragonball and considering a possible cancellation? Well, Superheroflix reportedly has a source that is very close to the film, who reveals the exact opposite. Maybe Film Junk needs to re-evaluate their sources.
The film was completed a while ago, and the reasons for moving the film’s release date from this summer to next spring was to insure that all of the needed special effects were completed. We have a source that is very close to the film. And he/she says that the first edit is done, and that it has been shown to those “higher ups” at Fox. And that they love the finished film. Our studio contact, who we aren’t allowed to name at the moment, worked on the production, and has seen the completed movie. Everyone involved seems to think they have a hit on their hands, and he even went on to say that it was “pretty darn awesome. There is certainly talk about a sequel. I have no doubt that it will happen. I’m sure that it will be a trilogy.”
If you are anxiously awaiting Dragonball, don’t be scared by these sudden rumors that the film is being scrapped or sent directly to home video. That is certainly not the case. Dragonball is still set for a April 3rd, 2009 release date.

i think this movie will do just fine…..it wont be exactly the way we want it to be but then again it is an ADAPTATION…..so things are bound to be slightly off….such as the whole goku going to highschool thing……but its gunna be epic….like translating the cartoon and manga into live action will be awesome…just seeing a live action Kamehameha will blow my mind….so i think its definately gunna be worth the wait….and there will definately be sequels if this does as well as i think it will

Ya know, I was just thinking. If fox loved dragonball so much, wouldn’t they be hyping it up right now in some fashion beyond some images. Every movie’s got images, but when I see fast and furiouser having a trailer out now and it’s slated for release june 5 2009, something seems way the hell wrong with that. All I’m saying. Fox, what are you doing?

Vegeta will not be white, if Vegeta is white than FOX is RACIST and all they care about is making money. and they do not respect the JAPANESE and hard work they put in to the anime . Vegeta will be played by an ASIAN PERSON, preferably Shin Komyada or if we can’t get him than Takeshi Kaneshiro ………..I know he’s old but he better than Ray Park……….
Vageta will not,shall not,can not be white, end of story. I love “White people”, but they can’t just take over anime ,even though the Japanese should have made “their”(anim/manga) eyes smaller to insure that only an asian person can play the live action role. lol

God, I hate fox. They’re a bunch of pussies that only care about money. I can only hope wong and marsters saved the film in some fashion or another because it’s obvious now that they had an uphill battle the whole time.

to all the people talking about raditz. sorry but i’m sure he won’t be in any film ever. i read somewhere awhile ago that wong at the end of the film have piccilo tell goku everything about his past. about being a sayian and everything. Because he didn’t want raditz in and he could just get to vegeta and nappa for th next film. so no raditz. i hate it, i’d rather raditz tell goku then picciolo but that’s what the director wants so.
Let me clear up this vegeta being asian problem. He’s from planet vegeta, which does not have asian people so how could he be considered asian? So he’s not asian he’s not white, he’s a sayian, which is it’s own race. So whether he’s casted as an asian or a white man, it doesn’t matter. Just as long as who ever does the acting is good at martial arts and can act.
So please people stop complaining about races in the movie, as long as the acting is good, the writing is good, and the direction is good, the it will be a good movie and whoever plays whoever won’t matter.

@OVER 9000!!: Well that is no surprise at all. FOX is one of the lamest movie companies out their and the director is right. You can’t fght FOX because as the director said, they’re a company that just doesn’t “give a s–t”. They just want to put out as many mindless Pg-13 action flicks as they can. Hopefully movies like TDK will teach them that kind of crap just doesn’t cut it anymore.
As for Wong, I doubt he’d do anything to fight them. And I think this DB movie has already lost the message the manga put out from the start by completely changing that message.

I’m really getting sick of having to say this everywhere I go, race should not be an issue in this day and age I would suspect that that should of gotten through to people like
I don’t recall anyone from the movie ever saying “No Radditz”. Fans have said it, but those are just theories.
The only thing that was stated was that Piccolo reveals his Saiyan heritage. That doesn’t remove Radditz from usability, it just makes his part a little smaller. (Goku still doesn’t know he has a brother, and if they play it right, it could be an awsome fight to open up the first movie. ) The producer also said Goku may die at the end of this film, or the beginning of the next, but that was from a report in a spanish newspaper, if I remember correctly, so who knows how legitimate it is.
From a screenwriter’s perspective, the inciting incident of the second movie would either be Goku’s death, or the reveal that the Saiyans are on their way. Both of these are covered in Radditz’s death, so his part is integral to the plot, assuming they stay semi-true to the story.
The race thing has been debated over and over again. It’s pointless. The characters are alien, and it’s merely your personal perception that assigns what the character should be. Could Vegeta be asian? Yeah, definately. But there’s no real actor I know of out there who fits the essence of Vegeta, can speak good english, and can be a match to Chatwin in look. (Jet Li is great, but like others have said, his English is not the best, and while it works for other films, it wouldn’t in this one. There’s too much that goes in Vegeta’s dialogues to miss because of the language barrier.)
That said, I am sure there are plenty of unknowns who would be up to the task, but from the cast we have for the first film, it wouldn’t really fit, unless an unknown was amazing in the audition process.

It doesn’t matter the race, but Sayans have dark hair and dark eyes. This Goku doesn’t look like anything. He doesn’t look like normal Goku, he doesn’t look super sayajin, he doesn’t look tough, etc. I don’t mind about a white doing everything, but don’t RUIN the story! Why portraying all the cool characters as some sort of SS nazi-blond obsession? This is just sick.

don’t get me wrong I think Chatwin is a great Goku ,but it doesn’t mean”we” have to be greedy and make Vegeta white too. Vegeta should be asian ,Preferably a Japanese actor to show that “we” Apreashiate what the Japanese artist and original voices for dragon ball have done and given us.and there’s not 1 Japanese in the movie…….. 
Anime has none-race characters ,which mean anyone can play an anime character, and It doesn’t mean that “they” should let all the main characters be played by white people. I think the Japanese artist and the people who thought that Goku was Asian, learned there lesson when they found out that Goku was going to be played by a white person in the movie.

Goku is played by justin chatwin which you all ready know. there was a person with yellow hair supposely maybe a super saiyan but i only seen two secs of it and yes they got the kamahamaha right.
