ok, let me start by saying, THANK GOD some of you are really starting to open your eyes here!! Like I have said before FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN & HEARD from this movie, it looks stupid. There are SO many elements out of place theres no way they could be ANYWHERE close to the manga or the anime. Again, LIKE I HAVE ALREADY SAID, they keep the characters names, & PART of the idea & throw out the rest. But 1 of the major problems with what they have done in their attempt is: they’re dealing with something that has *primeraly* a visiaul baseing, it started as a manga(picture book) & was then an anime(moving pictures), but their “interprataion” dosen’t hold to this visiaul grounding. If they had made it LOOK more like DB they it would be easier to except as DB, even with a slightly different story line. You see, the thing your not understanding DBG is, I’m not a hater or even meaning to inslut you guys, hell I have been wait from this movie to be made ever since they started talking about it way back in 1998 & that was before Fox was even involved, so NO ONE want this movie to rule more the me trust me. I pray to god your right & I’m just not getting the whole picture yet. The reason I said the things I have is, I HONESTLY don’t understand how a TRUE DB fan could be excited about the things they have chosen to show us so far. I mean, yeah this movie is ment to attract more then just DB fans, & yes(once again as I have already said) it WILL make a shit load of money, but that dosen’t mean they have to change everything up like thay have. They could have made a movie to get both DB & non-DB fans & still made it look more like the show or manga, hell that was the whole reason they desided to make the first is the possable series a DB(begining) movie & not a Z as many FANS would have liked insted, so they could market a wider range of people & build new fans, but once again they didn’t have to go & do the things they have. It would seem more like they were only thinking about the new fan base & have tottaly forgotten about already dedicaded fans. In all honesty I really don’t see why they would of had to change anything at all to market it to a wider range of people, the look & story has already proven itself able of attracting people, & holding them to that look & story, I mean for almost 20 years it was the highest rated show in the world. Starting with the series this bullshit movie is based off of all the way to GT Dragonball was on the air, on its origanl run, for almost 20 YEARS!!! Why would you want, or need to chage the story?? Like I said before look at the stuff for the Watchmen movie so far, think about that as a templet of what this movie should & even more then thatn that COULD have been like. When you look at both things from the bare basic point of veiw they are not too far off. Lets say, just for this example, there was no anime just the manga. Both started out as comic books, a visiaul media, both are hugely secsuessfull, have loyal & dedicaded fans, & are legends in their respective feilds. Yet in the Watchmen trailer the look & story were so dead on with the origanl media I almost came right there, I had to watch it again & have many times since(& I only recently read the novel compaired to how long I’ve loved Dragonball). This trailer on the other hand, made me cringe & if anything made me almost not even want to see the movie I have been waiting 10 yeras to see!!! And that is the gods honest truth. All I’m baiscly tring to say here is, why did they have to move so many thing so far away from the origanl meda? And the reason I said all those insulting things was cause I REALLY don’t get how a fan of the series could get as excited as so many of you were when the things they have done are so not anything like the seires we have all fallen in love with. HONESTLY, DBG why do you feel the need to defend this movie? What about the things they have done are you REALLY that excited about?? HONESTLY??? I’m not tring to gode you on here I really want to know. Same gos for any of you, I have expressed my reasons for my dismay, please, TRUELY tell me what those of you who are excited, are excited about! I look at the whole thing like this: I love Dragonball, almost in the way you might love your wife or girlfriend. Now, say you came home from work one day to find your wife of 10 years was a different woman, I mean REALLY, dosen’t even look like your wife, & on top of that her memeories of your 10 years together are tottaly different from what really happened. Is that woman REALLY your wife? Would you HONESTLY still love her just the same??? I know how crazy this situation sounds, but its just an example to better explane my point & disapointment in this movie. I hope you understnd my meaning, & I honestly ask you all to defend your excitement, cause maybe theres something Im missing

the reason i think this movie will rock because:
1) its live action dragonball!!! ive always wanted to see a live action dragonball movie
2) the characters (in my opinion, tho u may not agree) look amazing
3) the trailer (again in my opinion) just was amazing to me. i felt excited and overwhelmed.
4) though there is some things i disagree with, i still havent found one thing that could totally trash this movie
so thats why I BELIEVE and am hopeful that this movie will be great. but again thats my opinion. just like you have your opinion on the movie which i believe you have backed up by many plausible facts. and thats great. conflicting beliefs should be DISCUSSED, WE SHOULDNT insult. calling us mindless toddlers and not real dbfans is unnecessary. u can be a dbfan and “like” the movie. the definition of “db fan” is “a fan of dragonball”. isnt that what we ALL are? we just have different opinions. thats it.

look dude its not just you i was talking about i was also talking about the people who don’t know anything about dragonball leaving comments the only thing that was aimed at you was that you should give the movie a chance before you bad mouth it that’s all don’t take it personal i have my doubt’s too about the story line but that’s what happens when they adapt anything to a movie ya they could have made it closer to the true story and as far as we know maybe it is closer than we think well have to wait and see as far as the action it looks amazing and to answer your question i am really excited about this movie because i loved the trailer, ive been waiting for a live action dragonball movie for 13 years(and i am 23), and because i know the next one well be based on dragonball z and well be even better than this one. i hope that explains it i didn’t mean to seem to only be talking to you i was just saying everyone who was bad mouthing the movie should give it a chance.
I agree with what most people have said. Obviously there are some differences from the anime/manga and it’s a bummer that Krillin, Tien, and other characters from the Dragonball series are not featured…but then again who knows.
There was one thing that struck me as funny. In the trailer Chatwin says “i’m not ready for this”. hah…common now, Goku is ready for anything! Even if he’s not ready he’ll take on a fight! See what I just did? i nitpicked and that’s fine. We can nitpick this movie till there is nothing left, all we can do is go see it and then make our judgements. I have watched Dragonball since I was a kid, and i’ll admit i’m skeptical yet excited….as we all are! Just give it a chance then afterwards you can hug it

This is movie why must be same, Bulma have blue hair in anime why she must have blue in Movie, if Fox do movie excatly like anime….. that will be boring and sucks, i wanna ask you guys do any1 want to watch same thing twice? To the haters saying this looks cheap/I’m not exxagerating when i say the background scenery for their Mt Pouazu looks more beautiful than Hobbiton in The lord of the rings.

Hey guys since this is a family movie, does that mean that it’s going to be childish and not appeal to guys my age.I’m 21 but i still look 17/18 so i don’t think i’ll look out of place in the cinemas.
man this is going to be an epic movie i havent even seen all the dragon ball series yet its too long but i love watching it its one of my favorite cartoons of all time the movies are going to be even better .
very disappointing… only americans can do this… using big production effects to destroy something japanese people my age grew up with.
i think this is one of those few times where i’d gladly “go back to the country that i came from”.

Anyway, all I wanted by saying the things I have was to understand how & why people actually like what they have seen of this movie, & also to bring atention to the fact that this is not the first live DB movie(for those excited JUST to see a live version of the show) but I must honestly say the things DBG, LOVERNOTFIGHTER, & maxim have made good points I feel no need to disprove. As I have said before I am also very hopefull this movie will be good, but said to say I am more doubt full. That is not to say I WANT the movie to suck, quite the opposite I truely hope I am wrong with my pre-judgement but the things I have seen to date have done nothing but help further my doubt. I mean yes I know that 90% of the time when a property changes medias they thend to change the property to make more accesable to thae media, & yes sometimes it works out, I can even understand the need to not want to tell the same story, but the thing that really dose it for me is the look. I am a cartoonist(in my own mind) & I spent a long time learning to perfectly copy thr Dragonball style so to me that fact that Goku dosen’t look like Goku, to me, makes it as if its not Goku. The same gose for all the charcters(of with to Roshi is the worst), thatn you put that together with the cloths & stlyistic aproch the directer & producers have taken & it just feels as if this movies is Dragonball in nothing other then name. thats like when I was a kid with the Power Rangers, they would put the name & logo on stuff like bubbles, but it REALLY had nothing whatsoever to do with the Power Rangers. To me this movie is the same as the bubbles, REALLY it has nothing to do with Dragonball, just the name. Its like I won’t buy the bubbles when I was 7 but they expect me to buy this when I’m 24?? I’ll admitt I am going to see the movie, after as long as I’ve waited for a big budget hollywood DB movie I have to hurt myself for not going, but I also MUST go if for no other reason to see if they held true to ANYTHING from Akira Toriyama’s tale. You see I am a purest, I can’t stand when people take thing that someone else created & changes them to fit their own ideas, like an AU fanfic witer for example, when you do that it stops being the thing it was & becomes something tottaly different, hell I say if THAT is what you wana do why not just change the name & TRUELY make it your own, insted of defileing & in a roundabout way destroying the thing millions of others have come to love. Sad & sorry to say my friends THAT is how I see THIS movie.

i just want you to know i do agree with some of what you’ve said and i respect your love of dragonball but you need to understand where all dragonball fans who’ve been watching the show and reading the comics forever and yes we all have doubts about the movies story (personally i think the look of the movie is amazing) and yes i wouldn’t have picked Justin Chatwin as goku but he may do better than we both think well have to wait and see(i think piccolo will be the best part of this movie) its just a high budget hollywood movie of dragonball its a dream come true and if its crap when it comes out i will be just as upset as you but i think it’ll be amazing and you’ll be surprised.

May be they tried a piccolo with ants, but it ended up looking not so badass or something like that, so they changed that.
They had to adapt a 400+ chapter 80’s saga to a 1:30hs 2009 movie!
What you spected? Seeing dogs, cats and more talking-animals like in the anime? Ppl would say “that’s so ridiculous”. Remeber the movie is for everyone, including young ppl who never watched the series, not just for old fans.

-Hey guys.Much credit to Mr Chatwin.He is built like a warrior so stfu haters who say he’ too skinny.If you ever watched the chumscrubber which was only 3 years ago you cab see a huge difference.He HAS definately bulked up for his role and i commend him for that.Especially since he has a naturally skinny body.I know how hard it can be too gain any sort of muscle capacity when your born scrawny e.g my older brother (who gets jealous sometimes because i’m naturally musclular lol.)If you haters payed any attention you’ll realise whereas he’s not built like a wrestler he is built to fight.That is for damn sure.He is cut up like a Martial arts warrior.Go Chatwin hwe must be serious for the role even more than Masters.He did;nt even bulk up for Piccolo resulting in that rediculous Batman Costume.However i can even live with that because his voice for his rendition of Piccolo is superb.I bet in the sequal Chatwin will pull a King Leonidas and Wolverine and bulk up huge.Trust that and the “i get so exited when i think about seeing my Kamehameha on the Big screen” indicates that he is very passionate.
As i remember, the dragon balls were created by namekian (by god or in other words by the good part of piccolo) who came here from planet namek, NOT by seven mystics. Am i right? I mean, what is wrong with these people who are makin this movie? At least some main things should be original as in the original story like Bulmas blue hair or the same history of dragon balls. And where the fu** is Krilin (Kuririn i guess)? I know you people were sayin a lot about movie creators mistakes, but i want to add: krilin was the main reson (the best Goku’s friend) why Goku kept fighting (remember when piccolos handyman killed Krilin or when Frieza killed him P.S. that was the reason why Goku become supersayajin). WHY he wasn’t involved in this movie? Bulmas blue hair are also important (remember when Trunks came back in time to warn about the future danger). Why they are black?Another important (at least for me) thing is “kame house” – master Roshi’s house on an island, where is it? (I hope it will be in the movie, because there was no island in the trailer). And again, why Mai is so important? I can barely remember her, so why there in Mai and no Krilin? Please answer anyone

WOW, I am really happy to see SOME people stateing the things wrong with this movie(don’t worry I won’t go on another tyraid
) and I am also glad to see my points have come across to those openn minded enough to see them as truth. I would also like to say its kinda nice to see people noticeing some of the same problems I have & Blessed I don’t know why Mai is in it(seeing how she was Pilafs hench..um..person? & was tottaly gone by the time Piccolo Damiyo showed up) but from my understanding I don’t think Krillin is in it cause he actually wasn’t around in the anime or manga for quite a wile, and while they’re starting with Piccolo Goku is just starting with Roshi(but thats just my thought). Now as for Jason Staham as Vegeta, yes he would be kick ass, but I have to go with a fan cast I heard years ago, Jet Li all the way baby!!! Granted the accent & his age at this point make it kind of diffacult but look at “The One” & tell me you don’t think he would be a perfect Vegeta
ya id like to see jet li as vegeta but i don’t think that will happen because of his age and magafan krillin first showed up in the 14 episode and him and goku started there training under master roshi at the same time way before piccolo ever showed up so i don’t know why they don’t have krillin but maybe they will i can only hope but even if he isn’t in it the movie is still going to rock and hopefully they’ll put krillin in the next one.
