1 minute of Ayumi Hamasaki’s “Rule,” the theme song to Dragonball: Evolution, has made its way online. The single is set to officially release February 25th.

Brian Anthony also sent us an email letting us know that a version of his song “Worked UP!” will be used in the movie.

The mix in the movie is the CHRIS NOXX DOWNTEMPO REMIX at iTunes:

I would really appreciate everyone’s support on this song and the video. Hope everyone likes this mix in the club scene.

Been reading the blog comments and – trust me, this movie will be AMAZING!

I LOVE “Rule”. However, I’m not into hip hop so I can’t really say that i enjoyed the second one.

    CLUB SCENE WTF?

    for you whining people

1 – the 1st music is for the JAPANESE version of DBE, you probably wont hear in your movie version, i’m sure people in japan likes this kind of music, Jrock (i like it too).
Linkin park ? on DBE ? lol yeah right.
”broly music was pantera”, i dont know because i only watched the japanese version of the broly movie, and i remember it was not some little rock as any american DBZ music is, so dont worry, in DBE american version there wont be this jrock song, i’ll try watch both versions (the japanese with subtitles course) to see how different they are.

2 – the brian’s song, yeah i didnt like it either, but they said its for the chichi’s party, so i guess its ”ok”, since all the high school scene wont be ”dragoballsh”, the music wont be either, but im sure it wont be the climax song lol.

common guys! this movie is incredible so far, but why a j-pop song? i would prefer a heavy metal song! MI 2 had one from metallica, why not DBE?

  6. Cap’n Awesome
    January 29th, 2009 at 17:51 | #6

@gow: Because metal is an incredibly tacky way to express intensity.

    @kid green:

wow that was weird….yeah people tend to make tons of movies just like what you said. thats the weirdest genre concept ever

also, the next movie, DURING SOME POINT needs some Gackt, Moi Dix Mois or Dir En Grey. Dark, heavy, moody j-rock/j-goth

  8. gow
    January 29th, 2009 at 17:56 | #8

Cap’n Awesome : come on dude! heavy metal is best music ever! surely there would be a suitable song for this film!

There havnt been to many movies with heavy metal music in them that have been taken serously.
I think somehitng Rocky along the lines of nickleback, U2 or maybe even something like snow patrol. Yea definatly rock, not metal, a step under linkin park but heavier than pop.

    @gow:
MI2 was an incrediebly crappy movie.

The music should express the feel of whats happening in the movie not just from the niose but the lyrics.
A good example is dragonball z movie 4. They played distrubed during his super saying transformation in the english dub. And even though I like the song (think it was the game or something cant remember.) It didnt have nearly as much impact as the Movie 5 transformation where the english dub played the song changes. Even though it was a slower song it got me more pumped than disturbed.

So they are even using different songs for various releases worldwide? What a real waste of money and a nonsense. The production there at FOX think to be really smart but they don’t seem to understand what they are dealing with. Maybe they will get it when the movie bombs due to their arrogant behavior and lack of respect for the source material.

  17. rule
    January 29th, 2009 at 18:43 | #17

Trust me, the full version of “Rule” is very appropriate, and very cool. The movie has a tie-up from Japan’s best selling female artist of all time, that’s a big deal in some circles

Also, at the idiot who said that it’s for the Japanese version, it’s for all versions. That was confirmed when news broke about Hamasaki having the song by the news article and by Hamasaki herself on her TeamAyu blog.

RULE sounds awesome, Got most of Ayumi’s music and its awesome. So really looking forward to hearing the full version. Also I think Brian Anthony’s song is completely horrid but its fine and easy to deal with since it will be in the party scene. So most people will have to put up with it is maybe 3-5 minutes at most. so no worries really.

Lets just hope WORKED UP isn’t the U.S. theme song for their movie while Jap gets RULE for theirs, id be pissed lol

  21. gow
    January 29th, 2009 at 18:51 | #21

Stevie B: you are totaly wrong dude! hip hop has only 3-4 good( i don t like hip hop music) artists(2pac, dr dre, notorius big). heavy metal has lots of great artists such as megadeth, metallica, iron maiden, disturbed, in flames, black sabbath, slayer, pantera, sepultura, testament, slipknot, overkill, exodus, nevermore and more and more……

whatever…. well i believe if this movie is gonna be great there is no problem about the soundtruck it is the least important.

I couldn’t get the other one but I liked what I heard of RULE and i hope that this is the international main theme. It’s been a really long time since I’ve heard a memorable theme song from a movie (not since hero from spiderman) but I think this one might make that list

Lol its not that bad or is it just u don’t want hip hop in DBE

  29. January 29th, 2009 at 19:31 | #29

The One, directed by Wong had some great musics by Disturbed and Papa Roach..
I would like to hear something like that on DB:E, but Rule is okay for me

  30. Ina
    January 29th, 2009 at 19:33 | #30

The Chris Noxx Downtempo remix sounds much less horrible than the original, I could only listen to a short clip of it on ITunes but I definitely liked it better than the original All Worked Up…which was just… unlistenable for me, even though I love dance music. And that All Worked Up music video, that thing was hilarious.

Rule sounds fine to me, not incredible, but decent, and what I expected. Its not like Utada Hikaru’s Kingdom Hearts and KH2 stuff though, which I thought was great for JPop. Rule will do however.

    @Miguel: dareka ni kimerareta no
    sonna mon hitsuyounai
    datte kono bokura ga RULE
    sokontoko yuzurenai

    spanish translation I found:
Las NORMAS que alguien más decidió
    son innecesarias
    Porque ÉSTAS son nuestras REGLAS
Y no pensamos rendirnos nunca / No pensamos abandonarlas

agree, on everything. I thought Rule would end up sounding like the Kh openning but its more poppy.
I would have liked Ayaka to sing the ong maybe something like this

Did you guys see the fast paced action between Piccolo and Goku? It was intense! I blinked and missed Piccolo’s energy blast, and that is what Dragon Ball is all about… speed! :-)

@sajin0084.deviantart.com: When she collaborates with Kobukuro.

I do love Rule, so maybe I’m biased, but what’s out right now is probably the lowest point of the song, so don’t worry. The verses are great, and the bridge is powerful

im not really suprised about the hip-hop stuff. Its gonna be a big mainstream film so obviously its gonna have some stupid mainstream hip hop shit in it. I love heavy metal but i dont think it would really fit this movie, it should have alot of epic stuff like lux aeterna lol
