    @redrum: only in the book and I doubt the book is an exact replica of the movie I mean look at the game it’s not even remotely close to the movie.

    Thats true. a lot of movies who have a book too end up being different in some way. Like KEOLA said, the game is quite different too.
    We can only judge DBE by watching the movie, not by reading a small novel or playing a game.
    And Goku has a lot to be guilty for in this movie. He dumps his grandfather and 18th bday party to go to another party to see Chichi. If he didn’t do that, Gohan probably wouldn’t die. I’d be well guilty, wouldn’t you? so like in the original manga/anime, Goku DOES have something he regrets etc inside.

    @Stevie B:

    Surely a talking cat and a talking pig would look too childish for the movie. Personally I don`t consider Oolong and Puar as main characters. The problem is this: the movie has not time to show all the characters that we want OK, but the movie has enough time to show characters invented for highschool scenes.

    In my script Oolong and Puar appear but not like talking animals, even not like real characters. It`s a 5 seconds scene to make them a little homage.

    @DPA………I def. agree with you on that one my friend……No time to put in every character but able to “make up” characters for a high school (of all things) scene??????? Pretty ridiculous. :?

    Hey are these novels that bad? I was on the IMDB board and I’m talking people that have so much hope in the movie and defend it 100% are disappointed about the movie now because of these novels.

  7. February 15th, 2009 at 17:20 | #7

    To add to what the novels said about the Mai vs. Chi Chi vs. Goku. I think it was left out, but something happens in that scene that involves Chatwin making out with Chung and when the two fight each other, Mai (fake Chi Chi) shoots both of them, knocking them out. Then Roshi heals them both with his ki.

    @DPA: 1 – NONE gives a F*CK about your script, and none asked about it so sush it!
    2 – ”the movie has not time to show all the characters that we want”, no no, not ”we”, YOU, characters YOU want, you only think about you, there is no ”we”, I’m Freaking GLAD wong cut those sh*tty characters off the movie, they s*ck balls and would look make DBE look too childsh and they are useless.

    3 – ”The movie has enough time to show characters invented for highschool scenes.” We already explained to you, it’ll help the story, its just the base, its NOT important but its needed, you just dont want to understand, you are in denial, so f*ck it.

    To you :3

    @ DPA
    Well do u want krillin or tien to have a short appearance as students….no, maybe at the training grounds but ppl wud still complain that like only have a 5 sec cameo, like I said b4 in x-men they could have added gambit but didn’t because they didn’t want him just to have a cameo because he was to big of a character but didn’t have time 4 him on screen. I wud rather have krillin n tien not be in the movie than have them as 5 sec cameos but that’s only my opinion n I respect yours

    February 15th, 2009 at 17:32 | #11

    @goku34: People expect that by buying and reading the books they’ll know everylittle detail about the movie, especialy the end, but OF COURSE they wouldnt sell a ‘’spoil book” 2 month before the movie comes out, its just so you can get a taste of the movie, a teaser.

    @Adam:

    Roland Cox and Kid Green…Wow that’s just pathetic…

  13. February 15th, 2009 at 17:39 | #13

    @gunner: like i said before i doubt these books are an exact replica of the film because 1) their children novels and 2) i doubt they would allow the author to put spoilers of the film in this book….and besides this applies to the game as well because the creator said they didn’t see the movie and they had to get FOX’s approval on almost everything.

    @kaiokenx10: when it comes to characters like tien,krillin etc. who have an impact on certain parts of the storyline it’s hard to get their back stories to fit(along with everyone else)into a 2 hour movie or in this case 100 mins(which I hope it’s not) and when it comes to character like fuller,emi,weaver etc. their only there for the comparison between Goku (who isn’t normal) and average human beings and besides it’s only like what 10-15 minutes max? so their basically just extras it’s not like their apart of the main cast.

  14. February 15th, 2009 at 17:39 | #14

    @Doritos:

    Well done Doritos, you just call Toriyama `s characters “shitty”. Definitively a true fan.

    And what better base than a highschool nerd? Wong knows about it, his main character in “final destination” was considered a freak too. Surely Wong was a highschool nerd (He is Mr Wong: http://i.esmas.com/image/0/000/005/771/james_wong_370×270.jpg=

    Obviously creativity isn´t his strongest point

    :B

    @Stevie B:

    When the movie is running for 100 minutes aprox. and supposedly higschool scenes take 10 min, well, I`m so-so in math but if the movie were 120 min without hs scenes, then we could have at least 30 min to show Krillin and his friendship with Goku.

  16. February 15th, 2009 at 17:44 | #16

    @dj:

    Haha I just said it :B

    I´m afraid someone steals my script and turn it into a junior novel, I feel that junior novels have bad fame ultimely :B

  17. February 15th, 2009 at 17:50 | #17

    @DPA: didn’t we have this conversation? a nerd can sometimes mean smart but it could also mean unattractive,dorky or the biggest one of all unpopular which is what they made goku….if they made him the book worm part of that definition than i would agree with you and say that it’s messed up but we’ve all seen pictures where goku is still naive or stupid if want.

  18. Doritos
    February 15th, 2009 at 17:50 | #18

    @DPA: Just because akira made them or they are in the anime i dont need to agree with it or love it, im not a kiss ass, i love dragonball and DBZ but i dont love everything, i hated what akira did with gohan in buu saga, making him weak again, i never liked oolong or puar, i hate that after cell saga piccolo becomes useless, i hate that gohan stopped using masenko, stop being a kissass, dont you have an opinion ? if you folow everything akira likes than you should support the movie because i’m SURE akira is too, hell he’ll get some money out of it for sure lol.
    Yeah, for you wong is not creative yet you want a movie exaclty copy of the anime, talk about creativity lol, if wong is anything is creative, his remaking dragonball as his own vision of it and adapted to live action, again, you are just in denial, so you are hopeless.

  19. February 15th, 2009 at 18:04 | #19

    @Doritos:

    Hahahaha I`m not kissing any ass, I said those characters aren´t relevant, but they are not shitty for me. I respect your opinion, but at least I prefer them over highschool cliche characters made for Dragon Ball. And I can imagine what you would say if I say those highschool characters look shitty.

    “Yeah, for you wong is not creative yet you want a movie exaclty copy of the anime,”

    I said that Puar and oolong don´t appear in my script like we know them. That doesn´t mean exactly copy, exactly :B I was hoping something close but not exact. Anyways that`s already imposible for a movie of 2 hours.

    I`m full of hope because I expect that fox makes a real adaptation of Dragon Ball (not like this, because Akira says this dbE must be watched like a DB of another dimenssion, I want an adaptation in its own dimension :B)

  20. Doritos
    February 15th, 2009 at 18:14 | #20

    Exaclty, you want, but this movie is not for you, i understand your wishes but they didnt not make it for you, so quit nit-picking on DBE just because its not what you want, you are not respecting Wong’s opinion about what he think is the best idea for a DB live action, you dont need to like it nor watch it.

    @ DPA
    Fox movies are usually 100 mins so im not sure that the run time is the directors fault but im not sure on that and if they didn’t have 30 mins to show goku and krillin’s friendship and only had 10 mins it would seem rushed n did u read the novel summary by avenger3368, the ending already seem somewhat rushed so they didn’t have enuff time for krillin

  23. Avenger3368
    February 15th, 2009 at 18:33 | #23

    OMG GUYS, THE NOVEL ISNT ACCURATE, I’M ALMOST 100% POSITIVE. AND I KNOW THEY WILL BE SHOWING EITHER PICCOLO.JR OR PICCOLO BEING GOOD BECAUSE JAMES CONFIRMED THOSE! GEEZ, ITS JUST A KIDS BOOK. SORRY I’M MAD, BUT COME ON GUYS!

  24. Doritos
    February 15th, 2009 at 18:37 | #24

    @Avenger3368: Dont worry avenger, every new information people get that they dont understand they just go crazy and jump on conclusion without thinking alittle =p

  25. February 15th, 2009 at 18:41 | #25

    @DPA: didn’t they already make a movie based of the DB universe back in the 90’s what was it called? oh yeah “The Magic Begins” and that was an exact carbon copy of the cartoon dragon ball movie “Curse Of The Blood Rubies” the only difference was that they changed the names of the characters because they didn’t get the rights for it….so could you imagine what would happen if they made it exactly like the anime it would bomb for sure and even the technology today couldn’t save it from failure.

  26. nanjirou
    February 15th, 2009 at 18:44 | #26

    @DPA: well, you are in for a big dissapointment if you think there will ever be a completely or even very closely faithful live action adaptation of dragonball… i dont think it would be possible in a 2 hour movie… theres too much story to tell in such a short time.. its impossible, of course, they could have done a much more faithful version than this one, but that doesnt mean this cant be awesome in its own way… if you werent so closed minded,, you would see that

  27. Johnny D
    February 15th, 2009 at 18:46 | #27

    damn….i’m starting to lose faith in this movie
    i shouldnt have read that shit
    it semi-spoiled the movie for me!!!
    FUCK!!!!!!!! :?
    lets hope street fighter and watchmen will be a lil more faithful to their source material
    btw i’m still goin to see this movie tho
    been waitin for this for a while now! :D

  28. February 15th, 2009 at 18:51 | #28

    @Johnny D: dude did not hear what the majority of us said? we all agree that these books are not an exact replica of the movie even the game is not an exact replica of the movie.

    Not to be judgmental or anything, but is anyone else reading this board agast at the awful abuse that the English language is suffering at the typing fingers of these talk backers? I understand that some of you are Japanese, Dutch, or what-have-you. But the rest of you have no such excuses. Just from reading your posts, one would think that you learned to read by looking at hastily written cell phone text messages.

  30. February 15th, 2009 at 18:57 | #30

    @Joshua: I’ve learned my english playing online games and watching subtitled TV shows and movies, its not the best way to learn, but its better than using google translator.

    For a smart person half word is enough <_<

  32. February 15th, 2009 at 19:07 | #32

    @Doritos: And I learned a tiny amount of Japanese watching DBZ, lol.

    if i remember corectly. in the cartoon the only way the turned back into humans was by cutting off the tail. this movie they have no tails sooooooo……..

    also after reading your summaries the movie def left out alot and im surprised at how much it sounds like its DB. i felt like i was reading a new DB manga :) .

    one more thing, piccolo prolly told goku the story of how they came here and what not to destroy the earth, one to use the knowledge that goku didnt have of his past and used it against him, and he knew that once he turned into ape that he would go crazy and destroy the earth anyways lol

    The three chapter books weren’t very good, but then again they’re for kids. They left out A LOT of action and detail. It seemed way too confusing. I can’t wait to get the junior novel. By the way, does anybody know if they’re making an adult novel for this movie? Like the 300-400 page books? I love those.
