Lmao…really people are bringing up Christopher Nolan? I think he is a great director for his Batman movies, but honestly DB wouldn’t be his style. I think James Wong isn’t the best…but he’s what we got so stop complaining what’s done is done.

No christopher nolan is amazing and what he did for the batman franchise the way he brougt it back to life was amazing. An I’m thankful he did that but he’s not the right fit DB he’s all about serious and dark aspects to movies and DB isnt serious and Dark. I would like to see the sequel a little darker but not as dark as nolans films the comedy relief DB DBZ brings is a must. Like I said I’m very excited for the movie and hope it does well so we get a sequel. At the very least if they have to change directors so be it but I want chatwin as goku I like him as goku an no matter what you cant blame the cast. They all tried there hardest I am sure so hopefully the sequel we be awesome action packed fights and alot of comedy like we no and love.

Nolan would be a bad choice cuz hes bad at making awesome fight scenes. Not that batman was bad bit if you have wathed closely the fight scenes were kind of not WOW. He is good at the rest of the shit.

And for the people blaming James Wong…you guys need to be slapped! He did as much as he could with the budget and standards Fox had set. Think about it…the script that Ramsey wrote was a piece of shit. If it wasn’t for James Wong, we would have a movie identical to that. That would be HORRIBLE. James Wong changed it A LOT but kept some of the same aspects like Goku being in high school and going to that party. But if you read the rest of Ramseys script it was very different. Sure it had some similarities, but Wong only kept those because Ramsey’s name had to be credited because he got paid half a mil for the script he wrote.

And due to the fact that Fox are Natzi’s with their movies, I guarantee the original movie length and a shitload of clips had to be cut and things had to be changed in order for Fox to approve of it. They are aiming for kids mostly. But I know the actors gave it all they got. Well, Justin Chatwin atleast. I think James Marsters deserves some credit too. @bababui: Hm, Iv’e seen previews of Kung Fu Hustle, but I haven’t seen any of his movies. The one thing I remember reading was that there was problems between him and Fox with casting decisions. He wanted Chi Chi to be casted as Yuqi Zhang who was in CJ17.

I know this may sound a bit ironic because Dragonball has a large asian influence on it, but I’m afraid is Stephen Chow was director he would have casted Goku as an Asian. I have no problem with asians, I agree Goku is an alien and no specific race, but he just doesn’t look asian to me. I think they did a good job with Chatwin and all the casting.

-Clint Estawood: He can take sh*t and a paper and we got a new Picasso. His recent movies have a drama and realism that, If he wants, could fit with a DB adaptation. He can change the story and we can trust in him. Plus: He can play Old Piccolo / kami and win an oscar for that

- Ang Lee: His asian vision could fit in DB, Hulk wasn´t bad, however his deepness didn´t fit with Hulk, almost a road-comic . His best film: Crouching tigger… spectacular action scenes.

- Quentin tarantino: In Kill Bill we watched his homage to manga/anime. With no pretensions and not abussing of “awesome” effects, So he could give us a big surprise.

i think james wong did a good job. but should fox decide to get a new director, i would like the Wachowski Brothers and the special effects should be done by Georgr Lucas’ ILM. that would make a good combination!

Well I have to say that when I first heard about a possible DBZ movie, who knows how many years ago, I was super excited! Then I heard nothing for a while until sometime last year and got all excited again. I mean, sure this is a DB adaptation and not a DBZ one, but whatever I love it all(DBGT too!) But ya people please, I don’t understand when you say ‘oh no i was a fan but this movie will be terrible or whatever’. If your a fan, then show your support by watching a movie based on what made you a fan in the first place! Just because this movie will be bad (I personally think it looks freakin awesome from the new commercials), doesn’t mean a second one would suck too. Look at the xmen series, I think they got better as they went!

I read on here someone saying Underworld3 was the best one…..really? I didnt enjoy it as much as the otherones since I knew what was going to happen. The second one was the best in my opinion. Anyways, I plan on watching this DBE at least three times in thearters and am having as many of my friends as I can come watch it with me! My only real hope, is that if their is a sequal based on a DBZ storyline, is that Justin Chatwin pulls a Hugh Jackman and gets huge and ripped! I mean serioulsy, Im only 19 and I could bench two Chatwins(300 pounds I assume?) lol

And the Director of the Sequel should be someone who is by himself a FAN of the anime series (like Zack Snyder and his Watchmen) , i hope somewhere in hollywood is such a person.
And i dont think christopher nolan would like to doo a DBZ movie. He is in a way a deeply intelectual realistic director with the story in foreground, and dragonball is in way an action package
and to be honest dbz never had a “great” story. Good? Yes. But not really great. We all saw dbz especially for the spectacular fights, at least I did.
So lets hope the sequel will be in good Hands,

Totally agree, Chatwin is Goku. Nothing can beat a brown hair/eyebrows actor wearing a non-red gi with a blue dress.

If we are talking about DB(not DB Z) here, then his gi with the tortoise emblem is more redish(or at least dark orange). The light orange (almost yellowish) gi is more of his DBZ outfit. About the blue dress, I was not talking about his blue one under the gi, I was talking about his blue pants which looks like a long blue dress in the movie.

Only way to ask for new directors, better writers,etc is to do ok on the box office.

Fans have to understand that even if is not the movie that you expected, soport it because is a franchise you love.

Is the same when your favorite team is playing bad, you soport it no matter what.

We have to show that we love this franchise the same of comics books fans who like batman or superman.

i cant find the post but SERIOUSLY!! DBZ is more complex has such a wide range and variety of characters and different storylines and background – if they did this adaptation they would have more haters simply for the fact that they will need to cut soo many character they would need choose a saga and tone down the different back stories… everyone here has different preferences as to what they would want in a movie, no matter what hater a says, if it was his way, it would be considered bad for someone else…

I´m not gonna say anything more to protect myself from that “hater” thing… call me whatever you like! I´m not a hater.. I was a supporter who became sad! AND I saw the movie on a theatre in Japan!!! I didn´t even saw the bootleg version!
Now the issue with DBE for me is… ok, they can change the story, no problem there, they can change the characters, ok.. it´s a movie!! No problemo!! BUT!!!!.. the greatest issue of this movie is..
THE ARGUMENT, THE PLOT, THE SCRIPT!!! it is horrible… for any movie! and i´m not hating it!!! i´m very sad because I was always supporting this movie since ever!! I saw the white/yellow piccolo and I was saying.. “come on, that´s the old king piccolo.. I´m sure he will turn green”!! when everyone was saying that chatwin didn´t look like goku or chow didn´t look like roshi.. I was saying “come on, give this guys a chance, they can pull this off”…
when everyone was saying that the story was completly different.. I was saying.. “It´s a movie!! of course they canged the story!!”
THAT´S NOT THE PROBLEM WITH THIS MOVIE… THE PROBLEM IS THAT THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR 10 YEAR OLD… no one with more then 20 will like this movie.. unless they don´t understand nothing about the world AND the world of DragonBall!! I know that it feels great to have faith in a movie that looks cool and it´s DragonBall related.. but seriously, it´s not the characters! it´s poor acting and even poor script!! very poor battles and even poor final battle!! it´s very different from the maga/anime, OK! but it´s a bad movie anyway.. it doesn´t stand on it´s own.. ´cause it´s just that bad! :\

Thats the whole point of Anime they really don’t draw their characters to resembles asians. I understand Goku is an alien and color and race doesn’t matter but this story was based off of Super Man he is the Japanese Super Man. So isn’t it just a convenient for an alien to land in fantasy Japan and found by an old Japanese man named Gohan and is given an Asian name Goku its it just convenient? The whole reason they changed and made Goku white is basically they want to appeal to the White American audience when its released here April 8th and its sad to say but thats how marketing goes.
White American’s don’t want to see minority in high acting powerful roles and come on Super Man is an Alien and if they decided to make him black a lot of people would be crying about that and the whole “oh he is an alien excuse” goes out the window and guess what Will Smith was ask to take the role of Super Man return hell they are deciding if they won’t to make Captain America Black for the movie which Will Smith was ask to do the role for both characters but he turned down Super Man to do Hancock because he said a black man shouldnt do a white persons hero it would seriously ruin his career.
Justin Chatwin was just a marketing strategy not because he was the closes to looking to Goku throughout the entire world and if you don’t believe the whole Will Smith thing go to comicbookmovie and search under handcock and it has his interview for the superman role.

I’ve watched the movie 2 times allready adn i give it 7/10. Sure it isnt Dragon ball per say but still watchable. I remember some dweebclaiming Shenron is behind a clloud and you dont see him. Thats bull crap. Shenron is a white cloud dragon figure. Nothing wrog wit that in my books. Just two things bugged me….

1.Azaru….. How can Goku transform in a solar eclipse???? (Full moon ring any bells) and if im not mistaken Grampa Gohan chopped his tail of as an infant, so that he can never transform again… that really bugged me .

2. And Piccalo only had like 10 minutes of screen time max i would predict.. All those hours of make up.. And you never really get to know the villian of the movie. Just that he wants the dragon balls for his own evil agenda.. kinda dissapointed me

But all in all a must watch.. IF YOUR A FAN. IF not defnitely rental
