Oozaru and Piccolo Concepts
Alex Tuis, a concept artist for Dragonball: Evolution, recently posted some of his artwork for the film on his official website. With not much else to report, it’s definitely worth a look if you’re interested in what could have been if they had chosen his designs. Click here to see his concept art for Piccolo and Oozaru.
The idea was to make something original and a little bit different from the Manga or the animated tv show. At this stage, I did not know who will play Lord Piccolo.I worked only four days on this movie. I hope to be on the next one, with more time.

They should have used the last Piccolo design on the second illustration sheet. That one looked original but also had major similarities with the Piccolo in the manga/anime.
Well I hope that the second movie will be more lengthy and more characters. The art looks great though.

while neat, I still like how they did the two characters in the movie. At least the design for the Oozaru. Piccolo could’ve been a bit different but I still liked his look.

The middle Oozaru was perfect! Much better than what we got for the film. Some of the Piccolos were weird-looking, but they were all old-looking. Piccolo was young throughout the old film, a terrible mistake. And a lot of his Piccolos were just plain awesome looking.

i think it makes sence to me now i think the reason why they made piccolo without the antantas of the fact that he is old 2,000 years old wich im thinking his antanas were good b4 but he got so old that that the antantas got stock on him so wen he wishes for unlimited youth his antanas will go back to normal…
as for goku he mite grow a till sence now he knows about a little abuot his past so knowing that he knows he will began to grow his tail and become a half ozaru wich is good kind of like the anime but not complete its wut i think idk

Fox shouldve just gone with the show’s version of oozaru. A giant, 7 story ape with a wolfs head. I think the piccolo make up and costume in the movie were perfect though. But for piccolo Jr., Id love to see him in his white cape, turbin, and blue gee. But, I guees there’s little hope of that so long as Fox is in control. To bad, I would’ve loved to see an authentic, live action DBZ movie before I died. But again, I doubt that Fox is going to sell their rights to Dragonball Z to someone that would do the TRUE fans some justice now. (HEY FOX!!!!! PROVE ME WRONG OR DONT MAKE ANYMORE DRAGONBALL/Z MOVIES!!!!!!!) And dont change Vegeta, the prince of all saiyins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hes a proud and violent warrior whom cant turn down a challenge. That Piccolo Jr. Concept is breath Taking…. I almost had a Orgasm looking at it.

This concept looks DARK and very Haunting and looks more true to the anime. I like how he gave Oozaru a tail and I am freakin’ blown away with the Piccolo Jr. Concept. It look VERY EPIC!!
Hopefully they will use that Piccolo Jr. concept in the SEQUEL
This would have made the film a Masterpiece…..

If King Piccolo (James Marsters) Transformed into this Piccolo Jr. concept, this movie would have been better then Sex with Pamela Anderson.
ye piccolo original should hav been in movie, the oozaru looks way too much like a werewolve which a oozaru isnt cause its a flipping monkey.lol thou the design should hav been used for the demon king with maybe a sword

I’m not to fond with the one with the horns, but the one in the middle is defiantly true to the anime, but with a realistic height.
My mouth was drooling when I saw that concept of Piccolo Jr.
I like how they showed his skin and all…. But what got me excited was his Turban and white Cape. Totally HOT!

i like one of the piccolos art, the one with his cloths, and the second oozaru
they are pretty cool. even the real life version of them in the movie looked awesome!! i’m happy that they made more money than their budget, cuz there would’ve been a huge problem.
These piccolo pics look like they belong in a resident evil movie.
Nice work. Well obviously u can see the one picture of the monkey they used in the movie. Though, the giant ape in the middle shouldve been the one they used. thats the one who looks more like in the show.
the oozaru in the movie was the best movie version ever! cant imagine a gigantic one in the movie and will look cool, with picollo, needs more work.
After looking at the concept designs for Lord Piccolo I can tell this man had very vague knowledge of DB. He seems to have gotten him confused with Jr.
Also, I bet the reason they went with the Ivan Ooze in armor Piccolo had something to do with not wanting to put body makeup on Marsters’ arms and chest area. Low budget maybe.
Yeah this movie was low budgeted, but James Marsters had said that there was another costume, but he wasn’t able to move at all with it, so they had to put makeup on him.

I do think that Oozuaru should have been bigger and more like ape then werewolf.
And tail should have been included. (and bunch of there stuff should have been different). Like keep dragonball how dragonball is and make dragonball Z the way it is, because thats how we like it.
Some of them looked very cool and loyal to the anime/manga, other were just plain evil and scary lol like from the Resident Evil Games, still, nice drawings!
Why they didn’t use this guys work will baffle me till the day I die…some people have no artistic vision…omg i’m starting to sound like my idiot teacher!!!!
