Deleted Scenes Explained

Wondering which deleted scenes will be included in the upcoming DVD & Blu-Ray release? Well, ponder no further, as the BBFC has revealed the titles and length of each of the 8 scenes.

00:01:19:06 GOKU LEARNS ABOUT KI (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:22:05 GOKU LIFTS CAR (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:16:03 GOKU MEETS BULMA (DELETED SCENE)
00:00:31:14 GOKU SEES HIS BIRTHDAY CAKE (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:55:14 EXTENDED MONTAGE TO STONE TEMPLE/STONE TEMPLE SNACK BAR (DELETED SCENE)

00:02:00:03 EXTENDED SIFU NORRIS/ROSHI (DELETED SCENE)
00:00:49:22 MAI DIES BY STABBING (DELETED SCENE)

something diferent adam you need to update the boxoffice dragonball has now $56,194,840 and it´s curious that in less theatres it made 4 times the money in this weekend than the previous one… nonetheless it needs more, well it still have some countries that will premier dragonball evolution and it´s countries with many fans like germany portugal and greece…

    May 26th, 2009 at 14:59 | #9

damm i don´t get it piccollo is the main villion and the best of the movie and we don´t get at least some deleted scenes of him, don´t tell me that masters was in the set only 1 or 2 days it seems that they spent more hours in doing makeup than filming….
why why why mai is not a powerfull oponent to goku so why isn´t more of piccollo?????????????????????????????????????????????

The deleted scenes don’t sound as actiony as I anticipated. Aside from the Mai stabbing (which sounds cool), I don’t see why these were deleted. I was really hoping for the extended final fight scene too. Oh well. Thanks for the news.

AND NEWS FOR THE Z EDITION NONE YET??????

  21. May 26th, 2009 at 17:33 | #21

Im starting to think the the so called Z-Addition dvd is just going to be added as a subtitle to the normal dvd instead of it being a dvd on it’s own is anyone else getting this feeling.

  22. Yeti
    May 26th, 2009 at 17:48 | #22

The Z-Edition is just their name for the Special Edition. So it will have over 10 min of deleted scenes, learn Goku’s moves in Goku’s Workout featurette, behind-the scenes footage and gag reel.

  23. yajra03
    May 26th, 2009 at 18:17 | #23

its not worth it to buy coz i saw it already in the cinema. the additional scenes are not interesting.. but ill still buy it for the sequel. :?

  24. helioSSJ
    May 26th, 2009 at 18:32 | #24

these deleted scenes are from the “normal” dvd not the z edition we still don´t know what the Zedition will bring to us.
    isn´t that right adam???

    May 26th, 2009 at 18:33 | #25

The Moive (if you call it that) was bad enough, so if the director said this is not good enough lets cut it out, then these clips will go on youtube and people will laugh at them lol i only wish they were cut out for a different reason, but come on,

00:01:22:05 GOKU LIFTS CAR (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:16:03 GOKU MEETS BULMA (DELETED SCENE)
00:00:31:14 GOKU SEES HIS BIRTHDAY CAKE (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:55:14 EXTENDED MONTAGE TO STONE TEMPLE/STONE TEMPLE SNACK BAR

when he saw bulma for frist timeit was sooo awful, wooden actin

  26. bababui
    May 26th, 2009 at 18:46 | #26

lol so we got no extended fight with picoro??? what a joke… goku could of have a better fight when he was borned……

that last fight on the movie really was very very weak…. its sad that how far we have come and the 1989 movie had better fighting..

we need martial artist playing goku not some emo guy

  27. May 26th, 2009 at 18:49 | #27

What a major disappointment… I expected more, but no. This reall really sucks. I recommend people to rent the movie from NetFlix then to buy it. Blockbuster is so 20 years ago. :)

  28. STEPHEN
    May 26th, 2009 at 19:29 | #28

alright so here is the thing

the 89 movie didnt have better fighting, what made it different was the camera work. and all they were doing was really jumping but still they got the story wrong authough i cant say much because rememeber db has a couple stories out now that is different so there is no direct thing, so we cant say what is and isnt wrong. secondly the deleted scenes on this is most likely just gonna be on the one disk dvd so dont get your hopes to down just yet, wait till the release of the z edition and then make your final remarks. its certain that i am getting the z edition, i never get one disk of movies anymore, no point. just wait and stop the bitchin about some extended things not being on the one disk.

    May 26th, 2009 at 21:00 | #29

So we’re gonna get to see Goku get startled by the car alarm and we’re gonna get to see Roshi use the “power pole”, Mai’s death…and what else?

Oh well, I’m still gonna buy both the Blu-Ray and the DVD. Will probably get both signed by Marsters at Dragon*Con if possible. I know he’s been a bit edgy about signing personal items at past Cons…hopefully that’ll change this year.

  30. DBZfan4life
    May 26th, 2009 at 22:12 | #30

Wow, that’s total crap, no extra fight scenes? You’re telling me that the two minute fight scene in the movie is all they really had? There isn’t anything exciting about these deleted scenes. Total disappointment. The next DragonBall movie has to have a much longer better put together fight scene. I’m not paying to see Power Rangers, this is DragonBall, it needs to be insane and very voilent.

    No additional Goku/Piccolo fight sequences?

    Can they do anything right?

DB:E remains lame to the very last drop.

  33. May 26th, 2009 at 23:11 | #33

If you guys watched the interview with chatwin you would see the a snippet of what got cut out….and why it wasn’t included is beyond me.

  34. bababui
    May 26th, 2009 at 23:17 | #34

    @STEPHEN:

dude i watched dragon ball since i was a kid and i watched the whole thing a bunch of times back in the day…. that movie is a remake of the magic begins movie…. and eveything goes with the show.. from meeting bulma and kicking her car to meeting yamcha and actually fighting yamcha to oolong wanting to steal girls… to yamcha running back to kame house and snitching on goku and the gang to goku getting the flying cloud… if anything the 89 movie got everything right.. from goku to oolong and even yamchas pet!!!

also watch the fucking fight scenes…. they r 100 times better then in the movie… yeah the special effects are crap but the martial arts is awsome and makes this 2009 movie look like a shame.

  36. stephen
    May 26th, 2009 at 23:48 | #36

true they got somethings right but not everything i mean really people bicth about chatwin being goku

when in the magic begins it was a female playing goku

true they got alot of things right but viewing wise wrong. the one thing i did like about magic was roshi and nimbus. thats about it.

people bicthed about alot of thing with both movies. they just made db more realistic in this besides either way again like i said there are many ways dragonball was told. there was never a set story.

i mean hell people are even complaining about the new terminator movie because of the different look. that movie was badass and im glad it felt real then before. t2 and this one was the best in my opinion. this one mainly because of how real it felt.

  41. olu
    May 27th, 2009 at 02:51 | #41

Fox is stupid! two movies that could have been the best movies of 2009(evolution and street fighter) turned out to be a major disappointment to many.

if only Universal studios got the rights to the franchise, if only ! :(

  42. kame
    May 27th, 2009 at 04:00 | #42

    @olu

universal had the rights to street fighter. they made the first one in 1994. u do the math.

  43. adam
    May 27th, 2009 at 04:10 | #43

Fuck i don’t get what’s wrong with puting these scenes on the actual movie…..it could have made it so much better and make the speed of the movie so much smoother…..why do you do this Fox why?? 2 Complete movie failures this year Wolverine and DBE !!

  44. SlashFox14
    May 27th, 2009 at 04:58 | #44

Sweet! :D But where is the deleted scene of Goku and Piccolo? :( I was expecting a deleted scene for the fight sequence.

  45. frieza
    May 27th, 2009 at 06:48 | #45

On a justin chatwin interview i saw on youtube, the life after film one, i saw a scene where piccolo slams goku’s head into the wall causing it to shatter.
im just wondering why there isnt an extended fight scene. As much as i liked the movie one it was still poor.
now if fox are (being smart) leaving the extended fight for the ‘Z-Edition’ i suppose i’m going to play into hands and wait for it…

I do agree with Adam though, why not just keep those scenes in? :?

  46. Randy
    May 27th, 2009 at 07:15 | #46

@frieza: That was from the old fight scene. They redesigned Oozaru (because the fans complained) and thus had to reshoot the fight on a limited timescale, thus we got a shorter fight scene.

  47. The Meister
    May 27th, 2009 at 08:37 | #47

Randy: that has nothing to do with the fight scene. if your theory is right than fox would had it cut and edited.the new oozaru could be edited to the old fight scene.so your theory has no sense

  48. Zgirl
    May 27th, 2009 at 09:17 | #48

First off, omg if there isn’t an extended fight scene between goku and piccolo in the whole “z-edition” bullshit I will hate Fox and the director even more than I already do!

Secondly, @bababui: I’m gonna have to agree with stephen. I’ve never seen all of the 89 movie, but I have heard so many people talk about it and just because they got a lot of the events right, it does not make it a good or better DB movie. Bottom line, die hard fans of any series (like Street fighter lovers, Transformer lovers, or X-men lovers) will never be perfectly happy with a major motion picture adaptation, no matter how awesome the movie is to the general public! There will always be one fan out there that cannot be satisfied for whatever reasons (and majority of the time, there are valid reasons) Why does this happen? Because they LOVED the series, and they don’t wanna see people tampering with the material (DB fans are no exception), but when you go to make a movie, guess what! YOUR GONNA TAMPER WITH THE MATERIAL!!!

Having said that, the DB movie was still done wrong, but not because of the story…Its like stephen said, DB doesn’t have a “SUPER STRONG, NEVER TO TOUCH” kind on plot! Its all about the characters and the inventiveness of it’s creator (hail to Toryama!). The movie fell flat on it’s ass because the director was an idiot…he couldn’t even keep 11 extra minutes of material, why?!

  49. Destroyer
    May 27th, 2009 at 09:54 | #49

 WOW. This movie didnt stop surpise me. :D
11 min? And no Fight? WOW. This 11 min must be very horrible, when the stupid Wong cut it out, otherwise i cant explain why they dont put this in to the movie. So much stupidity around this, i cant believe it. Real comedy.

  50. May 27th, 2009 at 13:32 | #50

there might be a extended fight scene for goku vs piccolo. if you guys remember when the first leaked trailer was when piccolo blasted goku into a wall shattering it, i think that might be on the dvd/blu-ray release. now for the deleted scenes,
1.) i’m glad they are putting mai’s stabbing in the deleted scenes (because it wasn’t meant for kids probably, and they never explained what happened to her)
2.) because if they show goku lifting a car, that will explain his strength (if you haven’t noticed they never showed how strong goku was except for the time when roshi gave him the bag of stuff),
3.) I think the goku meets bulma deleted will be piggy-backed on to goku lifting a car, which will probably mean that they originally used the original scene when goku gets hit by bulma in her car.

thats all. but overall the movie wasn’t as expected, i expected this to be like transformers, (making references to the mars rover thingy, that was cool) but dragonball was only told by akira toriyama. has anyone noticed that there have been no novels of dragonball and no comics of dragonball ever made ever since toriyama stopped the story. have you noticed they did that with spiderman, i mean spiderman had been told by stan lee once and he stopped with his story but more people made comic books and then they had their own stories and then tv shows that had similar stories and then games had their own stories; one question did any of you know that spiderman used web holders for his web until we actually watched the show AFTER the movie came out? thats what this movie was like. kids are gonna be like when they see the show, “i don’t remember goku’s hair like that,” and “bulma’s hair is blue?” thats what the director wanted, even though i don’t think a movie was the best way to explain that, possibly a novel, or someone else could use the franchise of dragonball and goku didn’t have to be the main character, they could make their own. everyone loves dragonball right? well we already know the story, wouldn’t you think it would be rather boring if we just saw the exact same story again, but this time with real people?

if you need to talk to me about this contact me at
