Hold on, why are we even saying that Goku will turn into a super saiyan in the next movie. Isn’t it a little too soon for that? I believe the next movie may cover part or at least the saiyan saga. I don’t know, what is you guys’ input on that? Besides the fact that you will think the movie will not be made due to the fact that sales flopped.

Yep i totally agree with you. I also think if we dont get a sequel that will be the end of th Dragonball live-action movie franchise because i highly dought we will get a reboot seeing how poor the movie done.

@KEOLA: Uh a little yea! Wasn’t it promoted there first? Wasn’t that the director’s direction to make it huge in Japan fist because it originated there? I’m not saying its a smart idea, but I’m pretty sure it was his pathetic way to pay homage to DB. And if I’m wrong I’m wrong, but I thought that was how it went down.

@Gosha: Look I get what your saying, because I want a sequel too. But knowing now that the studio only makes maybe 75% or a little more from the box office numbers, and it was only out for 3 weeks (or w/e), yeaa this movie did pretty bad ! But like I’ve said, I would hope that DVD sales might bring it up enough to convince them to continue. But we’ll just have to wait and see. And as far as them realizing their mistakes, I don’t think they did. I REALLY don’t think anybody from Fox or the director or writers are reading what the fans are saying! And to be honest there is so much pointless bashing out there that even if they did care and tried to get some constructive criticism, they wouldn’t find it.

i think they would get it first. thats the way it usually goes in the business, the ones that pay the most will usually be the first to know if there is anything in the works for anything new especially with it being world wide.

@nelson18: They would insist because it IS profitable. Everyone know just how big Dragonball/Z is!! they tried going a different way by doing a different version with DBE and ye, they failed and most of the fans hated it. However, they aren’t stupid enough to walk the same path twice (this is probly gonna be a movie that they get slated for, for a long time!!) and they know if they do what they should have done from that start and go with the fans and give the fans what they want, they will make so much profit it’s unbelievable. They were foolish because they thought what they were doing would rock. Everyone makes mistakes. (BIG ones!!)
I’m not saying FOX are going to be with a sequel or even James Wong, I just know that it won’t end here. There’s just so much that can be done with a movie like this, and when they can make profit from it, they won’t pass that kind of opportunity down. They didn’t make much profit, we all know that, but they DID make some. DVD/Blu-ray sales will boost it because we all know we’re gonna buy it cuz we wanna see the deleted scenes etc (don’t deny it lol)
However, i can agree with a lot of what you are all saying, you all have points which are right. Just don’t be so sure that this is the end.

@Zgirl: To comment on FOX etc making mistakes…of course they know they have made mistakes. They made not read what us fans have said about DBE but they will have read what critics wrote in movie reviews etc etc.

Anywho, if i am wrong about a sequel fromFOX, get rid of FOX and James Wong (sorry James) and replace them with someone awesome

Yeah in my opinion they should take James Wong and Ben Ramsey out for the sequel. They both failed to capture the mythology and the main elements around Dragonball and the World that Akira Toriyama created.

i just assumed that the sequel would have goku going super saiyan. i thought that because—going by DB:E—FOX will probably zoom right through the whole saiyan saga and the end of the movie will be goku killing frieza. unless they want to make a bunch of sequels. but im pretty sure they only want to make 3 or 4 movies. hopefully the last villian in the last movie will be Boo. the way it should be.

im not looking at Evolution as a stand alone movie. im seeing it as a trilogy or more. (i know 3 movies makes a trilogy…but what do they call 4 movies?…because i think they might do that) im looking at the whole picture, not just this one little movie. so, as the first movie of a trilogy…it was a massive failure.

im willing to open my mind to a sequel. but why would we want a sequel to evolution? why would they want to build upon that story? that means every sequel Evolution has will be in the same vein as Evolution. the story is all wrong.

im guessing there are more ppl who didnt like the move than did, so hopefully FOX will listen to the majority of the fans. i hope FOX does not listen to anyone who thought this was a well made movie.

Maybe the fools at FOX are surounded by Yes-Men.

…and finally…about the hair…i know i made a big deal about it. thats just me ranting, just blowing off a little steam…(much like majin boo, lol) i do understand the reality of the matter.
AND EVEN IF the movie had been perfect in every other way, except for bulma’s hair not being blue, it still would have bothered me. i would have loved the movie but it would still be there in the back of my mind bugging the hell outta me, lol.

just think how awesome it would be to see “real life” super saiyan hair on the big screen. with the golden aura, coupled with the SOUND EFFECTS of being sooo completly powered up. now thats EPIC! LOL.

I agree it would be epic with the hair being identical to goku’s in the anime it’s unique. The fact is would it look dumb in real life? Thats what they were faced with the thing that bothered me with evolution’s goku hair is it changed all the time an in the anime goku’s hair doesnt change ever he’s a saiyan.

I want a sequel but I want it to be DBZ an fix some of the mess up’s they made. All I know is I want more the anime is done an I never get enough of DB stuff an movies are all thats left.

I wish it were that simple to get rid of fox james wong can be done easily. However in order to get rid of fox they would have to sell the rights an someone would actually want to buy the rights for that to happen.

An how evolution did so badly I dont see either happening, all we can really do is hope fox says hey Dragonball can really be great if done right. Then they either reboot it or make a kick ass sequel.

Are you serious.That is probaly the most optimistic but unrealistic idea i have heard. Dont mean to offend you but have yoy watched the series? Do you know how long it will take to combine a sayain saga and a freeza saga in 1 movie. That will be a good 3hour 30minutes movie that is just a ridiculas aim. If your expecting to see planet namek or super sayans in the sequel you are going to be up for the biggest dissapointment in your life. We will be lucky to see a whole sayain saga in the 3rd movie never mind the whole sayain and freeza saga in the sequel. Sorry but have you watched Dragonball Evolution or the series? Because if you did you will know that DBE missed out tons of charecters and missed alot of the story in dragonball and main plots and lacked to expain the plot. So what makes you think we will get a freeza saga in the next movie.

As i said we will be lucky to see raditz or anyother sayains in the sequel. If they do make 3 or 4 movies that will end with sayains or freeza not buu lol.

regardless of whether or not we see another dragonball movie in the following years I am glad that this one was made. dragonball has long since been finished and this was something new that fox gave us a chance to enjoy. sure as far as film may go it wasn’t the best movie and there were changes in the dragonball story that i am hard-pressed to cope with, but I now have a live action movie which is something that many thought we would never see. there are people out there who know how great a dragonball z movie could be and hopefully fox allows them to write the script. though not the greatest movie i thoroughly enjoyed DBE and will buy the Blu-Ray. I would love to see another movie because anything new to the DB Universe is fun for me. Face it for those of you who have seen the new Son Goku and Friend Return movie you cannot honestly say that that was necessary nor good. but you liked it because it was dragonball. you are entitled to your opinions but try to not be so sentimental about it and you might just enjoy the movie for what it is and could be (a farewell to dragonball)

enjoy movies and don’t analyze them so. appreciate the patronages to the source material and let a movie be what it is, a new vision. you will enjoy movies so much more if you do that

@Gosha: Thats true, the critics had the best commentary on the movie, and if Fox gave a shit about making good movies, then they would listen to them and want to up their game the next time around. I just don’t see Fox as one of those studios that care about making “the next big thing”. They seem to be just fine with making mediocre movies that bring in some cash.

even if u didn’t like DBE at least give them a chance to improve it. dragonball wasn’t that great after one episode but one people gave it a chance they came to love it.

personally i loved the movie and therefore i will by the blue-ray and see the sequel, not if it comes…when it comes…

I hope they plan a sequel and improve it tenfold, but even if they don’t make it much better, I still enjoyed evolution despite its many flaws. The thing is, the greenlit mention in the interviews is far from an official line and seeing how badly the movie performed, and what a bad name the whole franchise got because of Evolution, it does not make sense to produce one, unless they go with a cheap direct-to-DVD follow-up for the niche market, dimilar to the Starship Troopers sequels, the Grudge3, I’ll always know what you did last Summer etc.

About the hair, please leave it alone, it’s so unimportant to the quality of the movie. Having said that, I believe while they shouldn’t go with the anime hair, which in reality would look as ridiculous as Travolta in Battlefield Earth, they could have gone with something messier\spikier.

If it means there can be more dragonball movies then ya if they fix the flaws. The point is if they do a sequel it will be done right because there’s no hiding how bad DBE did. An they wont throw out money to do a sequel an repeat the bad performance.

I just dont see a reboot happening, an if a reboot was to happen it’d have to be in the next few years or it definately wont happen. Some company isnt just going to wake up 10 years from now an say hey I’ll make a dragonball movie. Its now or never dragonball was dead before the movie atleast even with DBE it brought it back to life despite how flawed it was. I hope for more movies I wouldnt oppose a reboot I support whatever is best I just want more.
