Dragonball Evolution’s Real Budget

August 27th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

At the convention Monster Mania, James Marsters let slip during a Q&A that DB:E’s real budget was a pathetic $30 million. That’s right, Fox lied to us. Twice. It wasn’t a $100 million dollar tent pole or a $50 million dollar movie, it was a cheapie, costing even below Twilight’s mediocre budget of $37 million to produce. What a surprise.

    In the name of the King is a bad movie, but it’s actually the best of a long streak of terrible video game adaptation by the notorious Uwe Boll.

    Hitman was not directed by Uwe Boll (house of the dead, bloodrayne, alone in the dark and far cry were). although not a big fan of the movie, I thought Hitman was an ok flick. I actually liked Max Payne more, though everyone hated that and blamed Fox for it (Deja Vu).

    @Zgirl
    Based on the movies you mentioned you’ve enjoyed this year, it’s a safe bet you’ll love Hitman. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it, it came out 2 years ago.

    @t-moore It was a pretty good flick, good action and a decent story.

    @gram18 Yea I didn’t hate Max Payne actually. I think it lost me with the ending…and I felt that gurl from that 70’s show was an odd choice, but overall it wasn’t that bad.

    Hey Fox, why not put the movie project “OPEN” for the fans can help to become true.
    I think the fans need to give feedback to the film become perfect.
    We know the full story, and it is not a secret.

    Why not to create “Getsatisfaction” account to “Dragon Ball Movie”.
    To fans give fix and suggestions to the Movie Production !
    Look at this site.

    getsatisfaction dot com

    We could create a “getsatisfaction dot com / dragonballmovie” (not created yet)
    This domain cost 19 dolars/month (cheapie)

    Erik C.T. :
    Twilight was more Dragon Ball that “Dragonball:evolution” tried to be Dragon Ball

    That doesn’t make any sense at all.

    DOMESTIC EARNINGS (WITH DVD SALES): 13,067,343 *is more now, the-numbers.com hasn’t updated since august*
    OVERSEAS EARNINGS: 48,134,914 *doesn’t factor in DVD*
    _______________________________________

    Ok, so the studios roughly earn 60 percent of the domestic total, so that means they earned 7,840,406 domestically. (roughly)

    And they roughly earn about 40 percent of the overseas total, so that means they earned 19,253,966 (roughly)
    _______________________________________

    7,840,406
    + 19,253,966
    ————
    27,094,372 = TOTAL EARNINGS (roughly)
    ______________________________________

    So, if the budget is, in fact, 30 million…then they are 3 million dollars away from making the budget back. That was back in August…they might have made it back by now.

    But the question is…will a sequel be made? My opinion, no. But maybe a reboot somewhere down the line.

    @Erik C.T.
    I wouldn’t pay that just for Fox to know they made a bad DB movie, cuz they already know it anyway. Thats why know one involved with this movie talks about it. lol
